Read this for a book club & really enjoyed it! The northern women are so much like my family it was very fun to read their parts aloud.
We had a good chat about this book as a group; lots of interesting things to say about class & faith & small working class communities & her mother.
It made me want to go and watch the series.
I enjoyed the random stories throughout but i know many are confused by them

HECK YEAH! This book has been on my TBR for the longest time. Like, I don't even know when I first had the desire to read this book, but it's probably close to 10 years. I adored this book, but are we surprised? Jeanette Winterson is an absolute genius with words and makes you laugh even when the subject matter is super dark. The writing in this book is divine, exquisite, this is a masterclass in how to write a novel. Please read this book! You won't regret it! Jeanette Winterson is a wonderful writer who is incredibly eloquent. I don't think I will ever stop recommending this book to people!

Fairly strong memoir. Need to reread at some point. Being familiar with biblical allusions was helpful.
