It's only fitting to read an Alaskan tale set mostly in wintertime when it's wintertime.. and To the Bright Edge of the World is just that kind of book. Eowyn Ivey has quickly become one of my favorite contemporary writers. She tells the most beautifully bittersweet stories while making incredible use of the seasonal setting she puts her characters into. One might describe her genre as magical realism, and honestly, that's the closest I can get to categorizing her mystical, yet completely grounded narrative style.
Moderate: Child death
