This book is beautiful. & that is the perfect word for it.

I absolutely loved basically everything about this book & how it made me feel it was just SO GOOD.

although this book is short, the story is lays out perfectly. I saw the movie for this book a couple of years ago& I loved it & I came across it on my shelf a couple of weeks ago & then I knew I HAD to read it.

Jess is my favorite character bc he has such a big Heart & all he wants to do is make everyone else happy.
He's always trying to impress someone , or give them the perfect gift, & even just drawing a picture.

So ..yeah I really hate that Leslie dies. The one thing I didn't like about this book was that since it was very short Leslie wasn't described as well as she should've been. Like we literally just met Leslie & then she DIEs!! I just wished she could stuck around longer but it does give the book a huge turn & surprised me as much as it probably surprised you.

Overall, beautiful story. I love this book

4 stars.
I absolutely adore the movie adaptation of ‘Bridge to Terabithia’, however it wasn't until recently that I thought about reading the book. There is obviously something special about this book; it has been nearly 40 years since it was first published and it still holds a very special place in the hearts of many. Having seen the film going in to the book, I of course knew what happens, and I do wonder if that affected my emotional reaction to it, but still, I found this short book to be an immense emotional rollercoaster, and I can see why this story touches so many people.
Would I recommend? – Definitely. However old you are, this book brings out the childhood memories and fantasies you may have long forgotten, before playing with your emotions, all to create a great coming-of-age story. Watch the 2007 film while you’re at it.

“She was his other, more exciting self—his way to Terabithia and all the worlds beyond.”
“Lord, he loved Leslie's stories. Someday, when he was good enough, he would ask her to write them in a book and let him do all the pictures.”
two stars kind of just for those ‘heartwarming’ quotes✊

this felt like it was written by a man (I feel like that is self explanatory but) like this normalized domestic abuse??? (among some other things though in a more subtle yet sickening way)

I knew from the first chapter that I would love this book. I could have read it in a day or two but I wanted it to last as long as possible so I took my time reading it, and I’m so glad I did.

I love the friendship between Jess and Leslie. I love that art and music and imagination are important in their lives. I love how they are both guided by kindness and compassion, Leslie with Janice and Jess with May Belle.
