AFTER HEARING GREAT THINGS ABOUT THIS BOOK I DECIDED TO GIVE IT A SHOT AND READ IT. FIRST OF ALL, THE BLURB ALONE PEAKED MY INTEREST, ESPECIALLY ABOUT THE WORD COUNT OF THE F-WORD...HA-HA! THAT IS VERY CLEVER! OKAY SO THE STORY BEGINS WITH MORGAN (YES, THE MAIN CHARACTER'S NAME IS MORGAN) AND HIS UNEXPECTED BREAKUP WITH HIS WIFE OF 12+ YEARS. SHE LEAVES HIM AND TAKES THEIR DAUGHTER WITH HER. AFTER A FEW MARRIAGE COUNSELING SESSIONS, MORGAN DECIDES TO WRITE A LOVE STORY TO WIN THE LOVE OF HIS WIFE'S HEART.

I HAVE TO SAY THAT I LOVE THIS STORY! IT IS SO REAL! I FOR ONE AM APPRECIATIVE OF THE DYNAMICS AND TRUE CONCEPT OF A MARITAL BREAKUP. IT'S NOT UNICORNS AND RAINBOWS AND IS VERY MUCH HOSTILE AND DOWN RIGHT CUT-THROAT. I LOVE JENNIFER AND HER SNARKY ATTITUDE. SHE IS HILARIOUS IN THIS BOOK. I LOVED HER, "I DON'T GIVE A SHIT" ATTITUDE AND ESPECIALLY LOVED HER COMIC BOOK SERIES. HA-HA! "C IS FOR C***SUCKER" IS MY FAVORITE ONE!!!

I ALSO LOVED EMMA. SHE IS THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE OF JENNIFER. FILLED WITH JOY, POISE, COURAGE, SEXINESS, AND OOOO SUCH A TEASE!!! I CAN SEE WHY MORGAN FELL IN LOVE WITH HER. HOW CAN HE NOT? BUT MOST OF ALL, I L-O-V-E-D MORGAN. BY FAR, ONE OF MY FAVORITE FICTIONAL CHARACTERS!!! HANDS DOWN!! HE IS SO HONEST, REAL, AND OMG I LOVED HIS CONCEPT ON LIFE. I WAS LITERALLY LAUGHING OUT LOUD, ESPECIALLY WITH "WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION". THE WAY HE DESCRIBED A WOMAN'S BODY; IT'S SO GREAT TO FINALLY GET INTO THE MIND OF A MALE WRITER! I LOVED HIS SCENES WITH EMMA, AND HIS INTERACTIONS WITH HIS DAUGHTER; ESPECIALLY THE SCENE AT WALMART. "CLEAN UP ON AISLE BULLSHIT". HA-HA! JUST THINKING ABOUT THAT CRACKS ME UP!! THE CUSSING DID NOT BOTHER ME AT ALL; IN FACT, IT MADE THE STORY MORE BELIEVABLE AND IT SUITED THE CHARACTERS.

I REALLY ENJOYED THIS BOOK AND HAVE ALREADY TOLD EVERYONE ABOUT IT. I ALSO PURCHASED MORGAN'S OTHER NOVEL, TEXTUAL ENCOUNTERS, SO THAT'S NEXT ON MY LIST. THE WRITING IS PRECISE AND VERY DESCRIPTIVE WHICH MAKES IT EASY FOR THE READER TO PICTURE EVERYTHING. I COMPLETELY DEVOURED THIS BOOK IN JUST 3 HOURS! I LAUGHED OUT LOUD SO MANY TIMES AND EVEN TEARED UP A BIT. THIS BOOK DEFINITELY LEFT A MARK AND I WILL NOT FORGET THE AFFECT IT HAD ON ME.

AND I JUST WANT TO POINT OUT, THAT MORGAN PARKER IS A "BRILLIANT AUTHOR" }i{

I was given this book to read in exchange for an honest review.

First of all, I was interested in how very unlike the normal romance story this one seemed. It's what originally drew me into it. Too often do I read a book and it's the same as so many others on the market - which he actually brings up in the book. That part made me laugh.

This is not like anything I've read before. As an aspiring writer, I actually enjoyed how real and honest the author was about the world of indie publishing. This included the author's cut of a sale, dealing with bullying, and other things many readers never think about on this side of the book.

That being said, I did have my issues with it. Not that it was bad. There was just something a little hard to get into at some parts, plus the editing is a little rough. Although, I did enjoy it as a quick and easy read. It's something the typical romance reader is probably not looking for - but something they'd enjoy if they picked it up.

I didn't feel like I was reading something an author created to please a reader, with hollow relationships and cheesy lines. Instead, it was much more realistic. For that, I was pleased. All and all, I give Non-Friction 4 out of 5 platypires.

5 stars- The word brilliant comes to mind, ha! If you read this book you will know why I used this word to describe it. Wow! This book is amazing! So funny, I thought for some reason that it was going to be a sad story but it was far from it. I truly enjoyed all of it. To tell you a little about the story, it is the story of an author that one day finds himself alone, his wife walked out on him and took his daughter. She then comes back when his book gets on Amazons best sellers and she wants to try marriage counseling but she already has a boyfriend on the side. Morgan, the main character on the book and author in the story still wants to save the marriage. The Dr. asks both of them, the wife "Princess" (that's what Morgan calls her), and Morgan to do an assignment, they both had to use 6 pictures and describe feelings. Morgan decided to write a story called "Our Story" and Princess decides to do a comic book. Morgan calls the wife "Princess" but he also uses a second word after it, it is always a bad one, lol! With Morgan being an author he finds that he has some fans, one of them in particular very persistent, she even sent him underwear. They become friends, then more as the story goes along. They meet, she lives in NY and he goes to visit her. Her name is Emma, she is married and has 2 daughters. Emma decides even though she wanted more with Morgan that they needed to be just "pen pals" The story continues, many things happen and I'm not going to write all of it and spoil anything but they fall in love. They make many mistakes. And in the end, there is a kind of a happy ending. To me it was a happy ending, even if it was just for Morgan. I thought during the whole story that he deserved a happy ending, just for him. I really didn't like Emma much, if I was her, I would have left the husband for Morgan like right away. But she was different and made different decisions.
I really loved the story, super funny and very entertaining. It also had a moment that made me sad, one that involved the daughter but it was not an ugly cry kind of moment, it was just a little sad and made me tear up a bit. The story held my attention the whole time and I loved the authors writing style.
If you are looking for a fun story to read then this is the one for you. It is also a very real life story, like I was thinking the whole time, yep, that happens, specially when he spent time with his daughter Evelyn.
Get this book, you won't regret it.
