Alright....so here's the thing, all these characters are stupid. Like....I just need them to get on the phone, send a fucking pigeon, smoke signals, magical messenger something so they can all get on the same page. This whole book was a giant miscommunication between every single main character while secondary characters do things off page to actually effectuate change in the world. I didn't hate it, I just wanted more from this world and these characters.

I think I will finish the trilogy but I don't think I'll continue in this world after the conclusion of the original trilogy.

Damn I now have to wait another 5 months. Which is like a minute when it comes to the normal waiting time for a book to be released.

But boy! This has been an exciting ride. The Gods are making a comeback and looks like the Kettral isn't down for the count.

I dont know why it took me so long to read, theres something with this style of book that takes me a while to get through but I did enjoy this more than the first one once I got into it. As always with multi narrator stories there are some chapters I enjoyed more than others and the ones I didnt took a while to get through. I will have to read the next one just to find out what happens - even if it takes me 6 months to read :P

DNF around 65%

This book and series just seems fine.  Book 1 started promising and kind of ended lackluster and this book doesnt pick up.  Characters feel kind of off, pacing isnt working for me and just dont have interest. It's not badly written, but I cant find myself wanting to read it anymore.  Even Simon Vance one of my favorite audiobook readers isnt enough to keep me with it.

love this story although both the plot, characters and world have so much to absorb I found myself just gobbling up this book. never knowing where the turns would take me or the characters

Surprising characters gain importance, a new female POV added (which is a relief considering how many times Adare’s chapters were making me wince) and I loved Rampuri Tan.

What I absolutely hated was Nira’s name calling and cursing. I understand Stavely’s intent of showing an ancient, unapologetic and dominating female mentor character but Robert Jordan does it so much better with characters like Cadsuane and Sorilea.

3.5 rounding off to 3
Idk what happened but maybe its been too long since I read an epic fantasy so I was a bit disappointed seeing all the middle book sterotypes in this one.
Definitely character wise a great improvement on development to everything the whole plot and its stakes.
I loved the races and everything
But I do think it was too long unnecessarily it could have been shorter I feel,
I am definitely going to continue with the series though

So....I stayed up too late and ignored the family just to finish this one. Scary good but a bummer and a half that I have a very, very long time before this story is finished. Normally, I'd caution anyone to wait til book 3, but the first two are so good that you really shouldn't wait.

My problem now will be to find worthy of reading after this one...
