Have you ever dreamed of packing up your life, moving to Ireland, and working in a small-town bookstore? If that's a yes, then you need to pick up this dreamy, romantic, and emotional new title from Jenn McKinlay.

In LOVE at FIRST BOOK, we follow Emily Allen as she moves from Martha's Vineyard to the Emerald Isle to become the assistant of her favorite author, Siobhan Riordan, and work in the small-town bookstore owned by the author's son, Kieran Murphy. Kieran does not want Emily to help at the store, or help his mother write her final book. Siobhan's health continues to worsen, and Emily finds herself acting as peacemaker between the two - with the ultimate goal of finishing the series.

I adored this book. It perfectly hit all the right notes for a contemporary romance, while still dealing with difficult topics such as a toxic, narcissistic parent, terminal illness, mental health and childhood trauma. Kieran was the perfect brooding Irishman with a heart of gold and Emily was a fun main character to see grow over the course of the book. Their relationship was fun, swoony and sweet, but also felt very real.

"I knew you were going to wreak havoc on my well-ordered world You have confounded me at every turn, Red, brining one change after another."

You'll love this book if you have a wanderlust bug, love literary quotes, and always dreamed of falling for an Irishman.

a cute and cozy romance. i want to go to ireland and find myself a grumpy hot irish man who loves books as much as i do and says things like “i didn’t want to have my heart—that would be you, by the way—walking around unprotected… i’m mad about you, Red” (318). bonus points for the cute dog and the nickname.
