Another enjoyable Sigma story. 14 books in and I still enjoy these and the characters developed over the years.

I can’t even give this an honest rating. I can’t make it through the first proper chapter and him waxing poetic about Seichan’s pregnancy. The whole pregnancy storyline pissed me off at the end of the last book and now it just makes me want to vomit.

Sorry to have to miss this one, because I normally love this series.

If I could give this book 10 stars I absolutely would! So fast paced & full mind blowing information, I loved it! I’d try & stop, but couldn’t, wanting to know more! Thank you James, your books never disappoint! Let’s also not forget my favourite features - historical notes & science fact or fiction, makes it even better.

Listened to the audio book. The reader was retry good except I hated Kowalski’s voice.

The story was a big long winded. When it when into descriptions of Eve and her intelligence gathering, I found my mind wandering. There was too much detail too many times.

I love all of Rollins work, but this one seemed more intense than the last several and I read it much faster than expected for its size. Gray and Monk having drinks out on Christmas eve, getting in a brawl and come home to find Kat injured in a coma and an 8 month pregnant Seichan and Monk and Kat's girls Harriet and Penny gone. There soon seems to be connection with the death of these women and the spanish inquisition. Very good read.

I really enjoyed this book. I don't think that it beats the Demon Crown for me (by far my favorite Sigma novel yet), but it is pretty up there. I think he really upped the stakes this time around, and I was able to accurately guess how everything was going to work out in the end, so that might speak to his growing predictability with these novels. That's also part of the reason it's 4 instead of 5 stars.

The second reason is the technicality of this book. Rollins usually excels at parsing down really complex scientific ideas for his readers, but this book remained too complex. A lot of the time with Eve and *other* Eve I skimmed it or just didn't bother to attempt reading. But the plot and overall story makes this a definite 4/5 from me.

Also, as a note, the Costco alternate ending was BRUTAL.
