I loved this book. Hugh and Phoebe were well-written characters, and their romance was difficult but tender. In spite of his hard-headedness at times, I loved Hugh’s kindness and the care he showed. to everyone. I loved Phoebe’s bravery and her refusal to meekly accept others’ dictates. This was a lovely story.

I really enjoyed this one. Between the warned against love at all costs MMC and the ruined desperate FMC you’re in for a lovely set up. But add that he’s mute and uses sign language, she adopted his dog months before they meet and their budding friendship in their marriage of convenience it’s delightful.

I will say I was incredibly annoyed by Richard’s high handed decision to have Phoebe abducted. It seemed particularly out of character for him to be so dismissive of her wants.

This was totally surprising and maybe the most actually romantic book I’ve read in a while. The MMC was different in a unique way and I found myself really swooning. The angst gave me those heart pangs I love so much! The third act wasn’t my favourite but I see how it fit the story and I’m not mad about it.

This is my first time reading a book by Stacy Reid and I am so glad that I did! I really enjoyed this story. I loved Phoebe. She stood up for herself and didn't back down when times got tough. Hugh had hidden depths to his character and it was refreshing to have a hero that was flawed.
