I loved this book!! It was such a great romance...and a very unique one. Would recommend it to teens and adults.

Im not the target audience for this book- I’m almost 30.  I don’t think younger me would’ve liked this book much either.

I found the first quarter (maybe half) a little cringey and reminiscent of Wattpad fan fiction. For example,  having  the  dress sheath or Vivian staring at herself and realizing she’s  so hot girls hate her is a classic internet fanfic trope. Oh and  the queen bitch fight - ughhhh.

I don’t mind that Vivian is confident in her sexuality but at times I’m uncomfortable with how she’s sexualized, especially as an adult reading about teenagers. There’s no sex scenes and yet there’s so much aggressive and non-consensual sexual moments.

There’s times where Vivian is annoyed with the patriarchial

The last quarter of the book was entertaining and not as cringey. Honestly, I found Vivian’s reaction/actions to
her breakup with Aidan
in line with her character and age.  However, I can’t forgive Gabriel x Vivian due to her being a minor. I think I would’ve preferred Vivian to be on her own.

I wouldn’t recommend this book to other adults or teens.

I have read this book in the past, and it is one of my favorites still. I have always had a love and fascination with the paranormal, particularly werewolves.
I have a strong connection to wolves in general, so I feel like I connect with the main character Vivian on how much she relishes the change into her other form.

I don’t want to spoil anything in the book, so if you have a love for the paranormal and werewolves and romance, this is a good book :)

A bad name for a good quick read - lovers a twilight will enjoy this story which is much shorter and less brooding. The title is a reference to a passage in the novel Steppenwolf, by Hermann Hess and shares some common themes with the book - the duality of human nature, the conflicted self - as manifested in a 16 year old girl who is a part human, part wolf but feels like she doesn't fit in either world. I gobbled it up in a day (a snow day)

A moody classic! This was probably the first shifter romance I ever read. It was the perfect gateway drug, because it focuses so much on a girl's coming of age, and all the teenage angst and body dismorphia. How do you reach for love when you're still learning to love yourself?

This book is like Twilight before Twilight. It was OK. Most of the time I would think that these kind of book have sequels and are usually in a trilogy. Only this book is not. Which fits it perfectly. I think any more of what I was reading and it would be too much. The writing in here is very good. Only characterization is not. By the end of the book if you asked me to name ten characters in the book, (There were way more than ten) I would not be able to. I have forgotten who most of the characters are and what they look like. I imagined the characters a certain way and then at the end of the book they mentioned it was something else entirely. It definitely made me a little confused. The ending was rattling for me. I had never even thought of that ending as a possibility. I think that the author probably should have at least tried to make it a somewhat possibility during the book so I could somewhat imagine it and not be like "What?" at the end. I don't have too much to say on this book, which means it wasn't a great book. But it wasn't terrible either. It still makes for a good cozy romance on a rainy day.

2.5 stars. I love a good werewolf story but this one just didn't do anything for me.

This has been a favorite since I was a teenager, and I still love it at 31.

So many big teenage emotions, and so much angst. No wonder I fell in love at first read.
