First of all: nonhuman protagonists (that aren’t animals) are my favorite. An Zhe had some an interesting perspective, especially with how everyone describes him as a “bystander.” And the depth of Lu Feng’s unwavering dedication to the human race!! They are simply great for each other because of their opposite ends.
I fell in love with many characters only to lose them, my heartttt.
The world building is very complex and the descriptions they offer is beautiful and complex. For a story that’s “mushroom becomes human and discovers its humanity” it does a terrific job at it. I truly love the apocalypse setting. I came from reading the manhua and craved more as fast as possible. The novel really does go in depth about specific scenes and the emotions the characters feel. I love it very much.
The ending has me itching to pick up the second book IMMEDIATELY but I have so much on my TBR wuwuwu. I hope the second book has more moments with Lu Fend and even better apocalyptic intrigue.

A mushroom left the abyss and planned to blend in with the humans to find his spore. Along the way, he met humans who treated him with kindness and care. Lu Feng, the Arbiter, is unexpectedly a good person. Read more to find out if this little mushroom is reunited with his beloved spore.
Moderate: Death
Due to the setting of the novel in a dystopian world, to eliminate the threats of mutated species humans are eliminated if suspected to be infected. The deaths aren’t gory but part of the plot to move the story forward.

I can explain, okay?
You know the kind of book you know you're gonna like but for some reason you won't read it? This is it for me.
I don't know what held me back for so long. Maybe the fear that An Zhe will turn out to be the annoying, meek MC? Or the SF tag?
Either way, I was hooked from the first page and in 1 day I managed to finish it (If you count the hours I spent reading it wouldn't be more than a day).
Now I'll have to pick up the second volume and continue the story cause I may not be able to sleep at night otherwise.

I don’t usually read or enjoy sci-fi, but Little Mushroom is a rare exception. I’m not sure what magic the author and translator worked, but this is the first time I’ve ever enjoyed sci-fi. I was so engrossed that I kept swiping on my Kindle, not even realizing I had finished book one—it’s that captivating.
Little Mushroom growth as he learns about human behavior and emotions is beautifully done. The intricately detailed dystopian world is fascinating, and humanity’s struggle for survival adds so much depth to the story. While the focus isn’t entirely on romance, the interactions between the MC and ML are incredibly satisfying.
Do yourself a favor and pick this one up—you won’t regret it.

I really loved this story it was different than any book like it I have ever read it was very unique and very interesting to read. The characters were great to read about I especially loved An Zhe and Lu Feng was interesting in his own way. I loved An Zhe for many things how he describes things how adorable he is at many points he is also very determined to get his spore back while not being discovered. I liked Lu Feng despite him being cold and unfeeling he doesn't quite act nearly as cold around An Zhe. The plot was very interesting it starts with one person dying and a little mushroom becoming that person to find his spore finds many other things along the way. I am really looking forward to reading the last volume soon.
