I read Little Mushroom in 48 hours. It’s a bleak and unforgiving apocalyptic world that examines what it means to be human. It asks interesting questions about what humanity is willing to sacrifice to remain “human” and preserve “humanity”. An Zhe is little mushroom that helps the reader observe this violent world. Lu Feng is a cog in the military machine protecting “humanity” by killing all those that don’t make the cut. I love and hate his character, but he is brilliantly written. His character arc is subtle and feels a bit incomplete. The ending is a bit of a sudden tonal shift that didn’t seem to fit with the rest of the novel, but I love a happy ending. I’ll be thinking about these books for a long time.

wow… this is so good thank u alina omg im so invested in the development of an zhe and lu feng’s relationship this is crazy!

Ok I rate maybe 80% of books 5 stars. But I’m SO SERIOUS about this one.

Here’s the thing: Heaven Officials Blessing has been my favorite Danmei for 2 years… and this one is SO CLOSE to making #1 on my list. I still need to read book 2, so we’ll see if this is truly better than Hualian, but this is still spectacular either way.

goddamn....world building...great prose....many questions about morals and what it means to be human and what it means to survive at any cost...I really really enjoyed reading this! I will say though, not sure if the sequel/series overall will acknowledge that the whole Trial system IS seriously flawed and fucked up - as in, I'm not sure if the ethical questions brought up in the book will be appropriately wrestled with given how Lu Feng is kind of portrayed as right all the time. also lol I don't think the science is accurate at all here but that's fun at least!

sooo engaging and way more though provoking than i expected. the dystopian worldbuilding was honestly impressive - ive read a lot of dystopian too.

“Humankind's interests take precedence over all else. It's not kindness to a single person, it's kindness to the fate of all of humankind. This is the source of unwavering conviction.”

I just finished Little Mushroom: Judgment Day, and wow, I am totally obsessed! This book is like nothing I’ve ever read before—so unique and imaginative! Set in a future world that’s been turned upside down, the story follows a sentient mushroom who takes on a human form and embarks on an incredible journey. The mix of cute and dark in this novel is just perfect!
I inhaled every chapter, and it’s honestly one of the most original and thought-provoking dystopian novels I’ve come across. The way it dives into survival and identity is just so deep and intense, and I loved every moment of it.
This is actually the second series I’ve read from Peach Flower House, and I’m officially hooked! Their Danmei releases have completely captured my heart, and I’m now on a mission to get all their other books. If Little Mushroom is any indication, I can’t wait to see what else they have in store. Highly recommend this to anyone looking for something fresh and emotionally powerful!
