aspen and roman are the CUTEST!!! this had be giggling and kicking my feet but also bawling in some other moments.

It’s about high school sweethearts that go separate ways to purse their dreams - one as a celebrity and the other a teacher - but keep coming back to each other.
Chapters flip between past + present telling the ins & outs of their story. It was a cute, quick read. TW for SA

There are a lot of things I loved about this book:
-the short chapters: I feel like I can read so much faster in books that have short chapters
-the switches to the past: instead of dumping all the past info at once, the chapters in the past made sure I remembered everything
-all the Taylor Swift references: I'm such a big Swiftie that it was find them all
-how Aspen and Roman are made for each other: from the beginning I just knew that nothing could go wrong and that was a nice change from all the books with the "will they, won't they"

Thank you to the author and Netgalley for the arc

aspen was annyoing asf

SO WE COULD CALL IT EVEN
YOU COULD CALL ME BABE FOR THE WEEKEND
‘TIS THE DAMN SEASON

This book was cute. The playlist at the beginning shows a lot of Taylor Swift songs, so during the whole book, I had Taylor Swift in my head as the MFC. I loved the dual timeline that gave us a look at the main characters growing up, and where they are now. I think the only thing I didn't like was the lack of page breaks. In one paragraph, they would be doing one thing, and in the next paragraph it would be later that day or the next. It would throw me for a loop. Overall, the book was a cute read. If you like TSwift, I recommend this book for you!

Missing a lot of depth, but is a very young author that hasn't experienced much of love & heartbreak yet.

‘Tis the Damn Season

* Tropes:
* Small Town
* Christmas Time
* Second chance Romance
* Friends to Lovers
* Dual Timelines

* This was such a cute second chance romance feel good book. I felt it was more of a YA in the romance department, I would rate it at 0.5 spice. But its got a warm, cozy, Christmasy vibe.

* Also for a debut this was surprising well written, I enjoyed the dual timelines, it really gave you more insight to our MC’s while also keeping you engaged by switching back and forth between the timelines. I would have enjoyed maybe one chapter from the MMC’s POV but that’s just a wish for me, otherwise I really liked the warm & fuzzy romance this story gave. Also the Taylor Swift playlist/reference ugh so CUTE!! LOVED THAT! Overall if you’re someone who loves TS and wants a good cozy romance book then this is the book for you!

I gave this a 1.5 star, but rounded up to give the author some credit.

This book was a miss for me - the writing felt very juvenile and scattered. I wasn't surprised to find that the author is 16/17 - congrats to her on publishing a book at such a young age, but this was not my jam.

I don't usually go for friends-to-lovers, but I love Taylor Swift and I love a good yearn, so I thought this would be a fun read. I found the characters and their motivations to be quite flat, but I loved Roman as a MMC.

I was really uncomfortable with the handling of the SA storyline - it needed editing and a lot of work to make it feel like a real storyline and also to touch on the subject sensitively.

Another thing I couldn't get past was Fertsville as a town. The name took me out of the story every time and it is mentioned FIFTY times throughout the short book.

Curl up by the fireplace and sip hot cocoa because ’Tis the Damn Season by Kimi Freeman promises to warm your heart and please your inner-self. Welcome to a heartwarming contemporary romance that resonates with the magic of the holiday season that can be read year-round, especially by those of us who can read Christmas books no matter the month. Told from the perspective of 23 year old Aspen Moore, this novel captures the essence of love, nostalgia, and second chances.

Meet Aspen Moore. She’s a singer-actress who seemingly has it all: fame, fortune, and a headlining tour. Beneath the glitz and glamour, something is missing. When scandal forces her back to her Pennsylvania hometown, she reunites with her first love and their chemistry is undeniable. The dark brown eyes she fell for years ago still haunt her.

Inspired by Taylor Swift's song, the book's title itself hints at the emotional rollercoaster awaiting readers. Freeman weaves Aspen's journey with the tracks of her music, creating a symphony of love and longing. I read this while listening to the song and then many, many themed playlists.

Freeman's writing is swoon-worthy and evocative. She captures the bittersweet ache of missed opportunities and the warmth of rekindled connections. The dual timeline adds depth, allowing readers to witness Aspen's growth and vulnerability.

’Tis the Damn Season is a delightful read for readers who appreciate heartfelt romance, holiday magic, and the power of revisiting the past. Freeman leaves readers with a sweet aftertaste: tell me if you know what it is.
