This book is trashy smut. But if you picked it up and read the cover and still want to read it you know that. It’s a great at what it’s trying to be. It’s not a good example of love, consensual sex or relationships. But it’s a great read.

DNF... Firstly each to their own with desires and kinks. My issue was the premise of the book which is
kidnapping a woman to live with male mafia don for 365 days in which time to see if she falls in love with him. If she leaves before 365 days, he will kill her family. Ah l'amore. Very early in the book he rapes a flight attendant and even with his alleged "dream girl" he forces himself on her despite telling her he will not do anything without her "consent". Consent is never given. And her crying after one of his attacks is not sexy, it's frightening. But all this is written like he is some sexy casanova. He uses force to get what he wants and this brings about some bizarre empathy within the woman. Casual dismissiveness of blatant and frequent abuse as being either "no biggy" or worse, as romantic is abhorrent to me. How she isn't terrified or furious is beyond me. I think her pathetic attempt at running away early on was supposed to show us she is strong but as we get to learn, she concedes to him very easily and very often and usually after despicable behavior by him. Yes I know this is fiction but This isn't Stockholm Syndrome when your captor has no redeeming or human qualities that garner any empathy whatsoever> Apart from that, it is not well written. Female protagonist faints and sleeps a lot. Male protagonist is a grade A jerk.

This book as the same pacing of a middle schoolers wattpad story. Massimo is also abusive, a gaslighter, and literally SA's the MC. Gross.
