this book, much like the first, was a little anticlimactic. nonetheless, Grant has his magical ways of making his stories beautiful.
So, I should probably begin this review of The Tattooed Heart by Michael Grant with a caveat. I began listening to this audiobook before the problematic posts on I think it was School Library Journal? Anyways, as I have a hardcover review copy and an outstanding Edelweiss review copy, I personally feel like I need to write this review in order to fulfill my obligation. I love first book better compared with the second book. The tattooed heart focuses more on Mara’s feeling and her loneliness as apprentice to Messenger of Fear.
I loved this book as much as the first one! I absolutely loved the development of both Mara and the Messenger. The cast of victims and evildoers in this second book is much larger than the first, which focused more on Mara, and I really enjoyed following their stones and seeing changes due to consequences for their horrific behaviour towards the victims. I definitely need to go read the novella and I can't wait for the next book to come out! Definitely one of my new favourite series!
