Loved this! It's very creative and I was really rooting for all the characters. Phex in particular is just wonderful. Loved the worldbuilding for the divinity. I'm really looking forward to book 2, and I also bought Crudrat so I can read that.

This was really different! Eventually it felt like American Idol in the stars, but more. The main character, Phex, has an interesting backstory and motivations and growth. I enjoyed it!

Delightful, light reading.  Found family is my kryptonite, so I was pre-disposed to love this one.  I admit that I've never watched a competitive singing show and I don't listen to K-Pop, but it didn't hurt my enjoyment one bit.  I enjoyed the world-building, I enjoyed the song descriptions, and I enjoyed the fact that it didn't require much of my brain :)

I’ve wanted to read The Tinkered Starsong trilogy since Carriger talked about it in her newsletter. Divinty 36 is just fab. I can’t wait to get the others.

This has been a fascinating story that has, in tiny ways, parallels to my own story, with a main character who starts the book working in a coffee shop and who is a musician. That affinity to him has pulled me through this story, when I might be turned off by some of the language used. But I think that’s more about me than the book (especially because I think the language that can trouble me is intended to make a point in this book), so I didn’t even dock a quarter-star for it, because I liked this book so much.

Most importantly, I want to read more of this story and I have no doubt that I will buy the next book soon (if we haven’t already) to find out what happens next in this world of creative/entertaining gods.
