I really loved this one, and I'm giving it five stars even though I thought the ending was a little rushed. It's about a lost Watteau painting called The Improbability of Love. I especially enjoyed the way the story was told, mostly in third person but occasionally in first person from a narrator you wouldn't exactly expect (this is where the magical realism comes in). The book is about finding and seeking and losing, and what that means to individual people and the world of art. I hope I get this for Christmas; it's on my list.

This book was nothing related to any interests I have, but I felt myself still engaged in the story. I know nothing about art at all, but I was invested in the story of the painting and enjoyed the character development. It wasn't particularly fast paced, but it worked well even though it is nothing like what I normally read.

This was a random library find, but I really enjoyed this book! It was fun and light and exciting, and I thought the characters were well-developed and interesting. I also enjoyed reading about art and the art world. It’s not something I’m super familiar with, even though I enjoy art, as a rule. I think what struck me most about this book was the passion people had for whatever it was they loved in the book—art for most of the characters and cooking for Annie. The pull of spending your life doing something or learning about something you love is a real thing. I liked that this book celebrated that.
