Heartbreaking story, the main character Charlie is so loveable but in so much pain you just wanna pick her up like a baby and cradle her cause of all the shit sheโ€™s been through. <SPOILER/๐ŸšจTRIGGER WARNING๐Ÿšจ> As someone who has struggled with sh and st in the past, this book really resonated with me, the descriptions of how Charlie was feeling and what itโ€™s really like to be depressed were so vivid and spot on with my experience. Loved it.

THIS BOOK WAS OMG. I loved how the title of each part was used in the part. and the dark humour was amazing.
but when louisa BURNED herself MY JAW WAS ON THE FLOOR. Riley Wesssssst was a prominent character and iโ€™m sad their relationship didnโ€™t work but also happy cus it was toxic asf,
overall i love Linus, Tanner, Felix, Blue and Charlie with all my heart. Kathleen i love you for this book

| A cutter, a bunner. She cuts to remove the sorrow, but what she gets is more pain. physically, emotionally, and mentally. Get to know her (millions of people in real life just by reading this one). |

My ratingโญ: 4.3 out of 5

The style of writing needs some digestion for me. I was quite confused for a little bit at the beginning, but then I got used to it. The writing often flashes back to memories of Charlotte and her friends randomly.

It starts with a very short chapter, one page per chapter. Sometimes, the chapter consumes only half of a page. That's where I got interested in reading this. A brilliant way of catching attention.

The author potrayed a depressed girl quite vividly and painfully. She describes how toxic, how dark, or how pleasant Charlotte's surroundings are at the moment. What Charlotte feels as a cutter, as a teenager who is lonely, and what she feels as being a healer/sucker to herself.

I admit that there is pain in Girl In Pieces, as there are depression people who are the cutters (or not) and who try to adapt to 'normal' living/adult living.  Its hard, you know? When you know nothing about the world except pain, torture, being homeless, hopeless, and feeling isolated.

Most of the time, a wrong decision is a lesson. It will keep improvising who you are going to be. Who are you without knowing yourself? Without feeling yourself? Or without being yourself?

Now, I hold this book with a special heavy feeling in my heart and also touch it with empathy.

Now, I know why this is my friend's favourite book, and I am grateful to her for letting go of her favourite book to me. I know it is hard to let go of something.
