I found this memoir riveting and am embarrassed to admit I hadn’t really heard of Lucinda before reading it. I’ll be listening to some of her music now. Creative brilliant artists do often have interesting lives to talk about.

Interesting memoir about Lucinda Williams struggles -- being from a family with mental health issues, constantly moving as a child, and being a woman trying to make it in the music industry.

I love her music and story telling. Reading me memoir has give me a sense of where her stories are from and how she put them to music.

The chapters were not really linear so hard to keep track of where in time you were. I had never heard of her music before which was surprising.

If you're not a fan of Lucinda William's music, the book might fly over your head.

But for those who know her music and lyrics, this is a wonderful treat.

Listening to the audiobook (read by Williams herself) is perhaps the best way to experience the book. Her southern drawl and gravelly voice makes it seem you're sitting next to her at a table full of food and wine. Plus we can hear her voice cracking with laughter at the funny parts.

Interesting read. I liked hearing the behind the scene stories of music production, all the different people who entered her life. I didn’t find her that endearing. Her mother’s mental health definitely impacted her growing up. She is an extremely accomplished artist- who I had never heard of.

I felt the writing was somewhat simple like I was reading an old Dick and Jane reader.
