Hunt and Bryce are the ultimate power couple and I am obsessed!! They work to build their emotional bond before moving any further, all the while fighting the same fight against their rulers secretly. The entire time I was reading this book, I never felt like I could put it down.
Left on an even bigger cliffhanger at the end of this book, and <A CROSSOVER BETWEEN CRESCENT CITY AND ACOTAR WAS REVEALED!!!!> CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK!!!!!!

It's slow to read for the first 2/3 of the book, it starts twisting and turning after that and the end leaves the reader a bit bewildered and anxious about the next book. Not her best, good. Hoping that the rest of the series improves. Still excessive use of the word F--- which is fine but it's like a word just discovered by a child and is somehow used at least once a page.

Severe lack of diversity.

When I tell you I screamed, I laughed, and I cried you have no choice to believe it. The last line on page 798 made me so excited. I am ready for the next CC book and the next
ACOTAR book
. The spice is incredible, and I have definitely fallen into Maas destruction once again.

House of Sky and Breath šŸŒƒ

Bryce smiled sweetly at Cormac. ā€œI get that you want to play Broody Prince, but donā€™t ever fucking interrupt me againā€ šŸ˜Œ Sarah J Maas

āļøāļøāļøšŸ’« 3.5 Stars

Iā€™ve held off writing this, I just didnā€™t know how I felt. HOEAB was a big surprise for me earlier this year, becoming my favourite book ever. I was both excited and terrified to read AHOSAB šŸ„°

Bryce was still her badass self which gave me life. The bro house was PERFECT - loved the addition of Ithan. More bromance please! Ruhn stole the show, SO glad we got more character development for him. Hunt was SO loveably hot but Iā€™m worried for him going into CC3. Also perfect level of smut, didnā€™t take over the book šŸ’‹

Whilst I adored all the characters, and didnā€™t see a lot of the twists and turns coming, this book just didnā€™t hit the mark for me plot wise. I enjoyed the wolf story, the drama at Hunts work, Bryceā€™s family issues and Aidas. But it all felt very bitty. I feel like our girl Danika was being USED to info dump, she deserved better šŸ‘€

Compared to HOEAB, I was disappointed, it didnā€™t feel the same and about 500 pages felt wasted. There were constant references to powers but no action or stakes. We did get a very climatic ending which was promising. I was on the edge of my seat, reading so fast, I felt sick and thenā€¦HE walked in at the end. NO. šŸ¤Æ

ā›”ļø Spoilers ā›”ļø I wish Maas had given the CC bunch their own series before merging. CC was new and fresh, the characters were her BEST yet. A collision AFTER CC has finished - Iā€™m here for but I feel sad they have to share the stage so early. šŸ˜

Overall, I am going into CC3 hopeful that the original vibe will return, that this does all equate to the best plot ever and that the ACOTAR guys are simple cameos butā€¦Iā€™m nervous. šŸ˜¬

HYPERVENTILATING

So this book is slower than the first one so for awhile there I was like solid 4āļø But holy sh!t the last 100 pages! I was screaming. I was rioting. I was sobbing. I was speaking in tongues. I was hyperventilating. The ending. Oh my god. I can feel that Iā€™m crash landing into a reading slump as I type this. Will I ever recover?

OH MY GOD I NEED BOOK 3 RIGHT NOW

I seriously can't even form the right words to describe how I'm feeling right now. Especially after the recent information Sarah has released about Book 3. This book is a roller coaster of questioning what is truly good and what is truly bad. It makes the reader wonder just how far someone should go for those they love and/or the greater good. It acknowledges the weaknesses of the characters by exploiting those weakness and being so realistic. Just the idea of what will happen in Book 3 has my mind spinning in a maelstrom of theories.

I've learned to always look between every word and to think outside the box no matter how outrageous the thought is when it comes to Sarah's writing. Although I did spoil quite a bit of the end for myself, I never would have been able to predict half of the plot twists in this book.

Oh, boy. Iā€™ll admit Iā€™m nervous to post my review for this one. I do NOT need the backlash. But since I discuss books here I will go ahead and review this one. House of Sky and Breath is the second book in the Crescent City series by Sarah J. Maas. In book one we meet Bryce and Hunt who must uncover the truth of who murdered her best friend and her best friendā€™s werewolf pack. In book two both the world and the political intrigue are expanded as we continue to follow the lives of the Fae, Werewolves, Shifters, and Angels from book one.

I found three things about this book to be particularly annoying: 1) it was unnecessarily dense, 2) it was unnecessarily long, and 3) it had unnecessary sex scenes. Though, being the asexual that I am, I find almost all sex scenes to be unnecessary. The frequency of these sex scenes is what annoyed me more than anything. In the first 250 pages we got one, and then it kept speeding up from there. A hundred pages later, then fifty pages later, then in back to back chapters. I get it, youā€™re mated and this is the best sex ever or whatever. But...can we get back to the rebellion here??? I truly think Maasā€™s publishers just let her write whatever she wants at this point. Not only in content but also length of the novel. This whole book could have happened in 500 or 600 pages. Easy. But other things that Iā€™ve seen mentioned that also bothered me to a lesser degree were: WHERE ARE THE WOMEN? We get one female perspective and a bunch of male perspectives. Which is annoying. But the female characters we do get arenā€™t as well fleshed out or are barely seen on the page. I get that Bryce is supposed to be beloved by all the men she meets, but can that not happen with another main female character in the picture? Also the pacing is pretty off. I felt like the last 125 pages had all of the action while the first 672 were all meandering. I know we had to work up to the action scenes at the end, but the pace was so lopsided.

But, after giving all the Maas Stans a heart attack, letā€™s discuss the things I enjoyed in this one. I still enjoy Bryce and Hunt as a couple for the most part. I wish things didnā€™t go from ā€œHelloā€ to sex in the blink of an eye, but I still like them together and I still believe in their romance. I also still love this world and this magic system for the most part. (Bryce basically being a magical battery not withstanding.) I also loved the direction this one went in terms of the politics and the stakes really being raised for our heroes. Iā€™m on the fence about continuing the series. Iā€™ve heard it could be a trilogy so that might be okay. But Iā€™m also really doubting that given where this book left off. I donā€™t know if thereā€™s a way to wrap up this series in one book. I guess weā€™ll just have to wait and see.
