Excellent "what if" type story arch. Would have gotten 5 stars if the ending hadn't been so confusing.

Silvestri's art was awesome, as usual. I like the Beast as a bad guy. I felt like Apollyon was someone special under the mask but I couldn't tell when he was revealed.

Finally finished all of Morrison’s run with New X-Men. Certainly didn’t expect it all to end like this, 150 years in the future. The cosmic qualities of the stories never worked as well for me as the down-to-earth stuff, so this one falls a little flat for me. But I do love that it’s easily the most insane out of the collection.

It’s unfortunate that such a notable X-Men run by Grant Morrison ends in such a mess. Even though this futuristic story could have been interesting, it was rushed without explanation and lacked any storytelling prowess. Very disappointing.

I enjoyed (some) of what was going on here. But the fact that the Coyote Ugly-esque cover left me feeling too embarrassed to take this to work should say enough about this odd little end to an otherwise wonderful run from Morrison and co.

There were some great moments in many of the issues collected in this TP, but it's undeniably peculiar. My first foray into comic runs is at an end, and now I shall steam ahead with the many, many comics I've suddenly hoarded.

A review for the whole of Grant Morrison's run on New X-Men:

This is a bit of a weird one.  I was surprised to see that this saga, which was meant to be so influential, seemed to do a lot of things which I knew the X-Men for.  After having watched a video or two about it, I realise now that works influenced by Morrison have defined my understanding of the X-Men.  While I wasn't a fan of the more interpersonal drama, which felt especially forced with regards to the love triangle, there were lots of really cool panels, actions, and ideas to keep me relatively engaged.  This is definitely one I think I will enjoy more with a re-read.

Well, that finished off with a resounding "meh." This seemed to be Morrison's attempt at a "Days of Future Past" storyline, but it was pretty much dense in all the wrong ways.

Not my favorite run of X-Men, but I've heard that this is a good lead-up to Astonishing, so I'm excited to see what that has in store.

To read this volume is just a waste of time.

The story set in the far future was interesting—I like alternate timelines—but this also suffered from pacing I don't understand so that I kind of feel like I understood the story, but there's also gaps in my knowledge so that I have no idea what happened.

But I'm done with this run and I'm never reading it again.
