My favorite stories from the collection:

The Snow Angel
Rosalee Carasco
The Adventure of the Laughing Fisherman
The Bottle of Scotch and a Sharp Buck Knife
Many Dogs Have Died Here
The Home at Craigsmillner

Some were predictable, but left a strange lingering sensation which I also value as much as a good mystery.

Enjoyed some of these stories very much, others didn't really pull me in.

The art of the short story has not been lost!

This is my first time reading a short mystery stories. They were nicely done, although, they are not mystery as much as they are normal stories.

The writing style in most of them were great, however for me, short stories did not suits me, specifically for mystery story, since it should build up the characters personalities and their backgrounds so i could be attached more to the story.

As with any anthology, some of these were better than others, but overall a good selection of stories. It has some big names, including Lee Child, Michael Connelly, and Joyce Carol Oates, plus edited by James Patterson. My personal favorites were Snow Angel, The Laughing Fisherman, Harm and Hammer, and Home at Craigmillnar.

Very heavy on the hard-boiled detective trope.

All the stories were good but there were a few especially memorable ones in the mix.
