This book was absolutely wonderful! As someone who works in the mental health field, I not only commend the raw and true honesty of living with a mental health illness and it's drawbacks, but I also admire the author's courage for writing a story based on personal experience. If you don't understand mental illness, this is a phenomenal book that will put you in the jumbled, confused, and scared mind of a person who deals with their illness daily.
I cannot give enough praises to this book!
Overall rating: 5/5 stars!

I went out and bought this book when I first remembered it was out. I was not expecting what I got. This is definitely going on my top 10 reads list for 2k17.
I really enjoyed this book. It was very slow at first but I think it shows how we all need somebody. It focuses on how enduring hard times is exhausting but when you have the right people it helps. 4 stars.
it was so interesting to learn about the struggles of everyday life from a person suffering from agoraphobia. at the same time it was fascinating to see the character grow over the course of the novel. slowly allowing herself to tolerate the overwhelming thoughts inside her head
This story will touch you. Young, old, middle schooler, age doesn't matter. If you have ever been afraid of something, hate crowds, have OCD tendencies, or get awkward around a cute boy/girl, you will understand Norah. I think she lives in each of us.
Norah is seventeen and has severe agoraphobia and OCD. I suffer from mild cases of both and truth be told without my family and friends I would be perfectly content to never leave my property. While the story that unfolds focuses on Norah's mental issues and offers tremendous insight into these sometimes disabling illnesses, it also gives readers a light, first-time romance for a young girl with all the butterflies, awkwardness, and excitement that comes with it. Realistic and relatable, it is very apparent that Gornall has first-hand knowledge of Agoraphobia and Obsessive Compulsive. Disorder. I would like to see this title added to the school curriculum.
Five reasons to buy, own, give Under Rose-Tainted Skies
1. You want a story that will grab you from page one and hold you spellbound until the very last page. Gornall pulls you quickly into the story.
2.Give me all the emotional feels and skip the drama. The tale is realistic, and Norah despite her illness is a fighter with spunk. The drama is minimal and not drawn out.
3. You love the first begins of romance..the butterflies, blushes, and awkwardness.
4. Perfect gift for your teen, the local youth center or for someone who can relate to Norah.
5. You're curious about the illnesses of Agoraphobia and OCD. You want a non-text book understanding of what a person goes through when dealing with this issue.
Under Rose-Tainted Skies was a touching tale and Norah was a brave, quirky, lovable protagonist. This is the type of story whose character stays with you. You might find yourself asking, "What would Norah do?"

As someone with anxiety who experiences panic attacks, Norah's story hit a little too close to home. Actually, I had to keep closing the book so I wouldn't have a panic attack! But that's because this book excellently captures what it's like to have anxiety. That line in the book where Norah talks about how anxiety never leaves you, how it's always playing underneath everything, was spot on. And the romance was adorable. My main problem was the abundance of figurative language. At one point, Norah opens her closet and "bats fly out" or something. Bats aren't really flying out, but it's a little confusing because bats flying out of a closet is something that could actually happen. Hopefully I don't sound like an idiot for writing that that line confused me, but it did. Obviously, I got over it, but there was still too much of that. It wasn't my style. That doesn't make it a bad book though. I'm sure it's somebody else's style! Still, this was such a fun book to read, and I was sad when it was over.
I was blown away by this book. Norah is charming, aggravating, and despite having agoraphobia and anxiety disorders, very relatable. I found myself thinking, "Thank goodness somebody else thinks this way!" Although Luke is a little too good to be true, Norah's analysis and description of her mental illness are worth it.
My long-time boyfriend has gone through so many of the same things Norah went through... this hit really close to home. I think this book is really important and more people should read it. I have never had a book feel more applicable to my real life situations before.
Under Rose-Tainted Skies is a beautiful story about a girl with agoraphobia. The book is beautifully written and the representation in it is amazing. The reason I gave it four stars is that I wasn't as invested in the story than I hoped I'd be. An easy and quick read. Would recommend.
