ugh i just loved Violet and Cole so much!! the romance was definitely romancing in this book. there’s just something about a brooding, tortured man that will get me every time. and bonus points if he’s in therapy!! Violet was such a great character, softhearted and sweet, but still strong and ambitious. Cole was the perfect mix of grumpy & mysterious and soft & caring.

i loved seeing them get to fall in love, both in the flashbacks and in the present. Cole had a lot of character growth, and they ended up being perfect for each other imo.

the only thing that bothered me with this book were some inconsistencies in the timeline. like: according to Off To The Races, Vaughn was 10 when their father died, and there are 5 years between him and Cole, meaning Cole would have been 15. but in this book, Cole says he was 17. also, i’m pretty sure Billie saw Violet and Cole’s first interaction at DD’s second race, but in this book it happens at the 3rd one. finally, Vaughn says he is 28 in book 1. one year has passed between the end of that book and this one, meaning he should only be 29, but Cole says Vaughn is 31. i know they’re all such minor details, but it really bothered me in the beginning.

overall, this book was so great and Cole is prob my #3 fav Elsie Silver man (after Cade and Theo). super excited for book 3!
