The next book in the Carolina Comets series is here! I couldn't wait to dive into this one. Who doesn't love a little forbidden romance. First off boy do Smith and Emilia have burning hot chemistry. Not gonna lie needed to fan myself after reading those two together. They bring the steam. We know Emilia as Hollis' best friend. Now we get her intriguing story. I loved catching up with the previous characters seeing them enjoy their HEAs. When the teammates get together hilarity ensues. Miller is a riot! This book has a great combination of heat, humor, and heart. There is a no fraternizing rule between staff and the players so it's a tight rope Emilia and Smith walk. There is a lot on the line for both. Smith is at a crossroads for his own career. That loner has a lot on his plate because he can't deny his attraction and connection with Emilia. Another great book in the series!

This is the first book I've read/listened to in this series and it did not disappoint. I really enjoyed this story and how it played out. This age-gap, hockey romance had a twist when it came to their careers and I was there for it.

Tropes:
- Hockey Romance
- Workplace Romance
- Age-Gap (10yrs)
- Coach's Niece
- One Night Stand
- Grumpy/Sunshine

Smith has been in the NHL for 15 years. It's been his entire life, and hockey has always been his first and only love.

Amelia took a job working for the social media department for her uncle's hockey team after a bad breakup. Before she starts her new career she is in the prowl for a one night stand to her over her ex. At the bar she meets Smith.

After a spicy 2 days, she leaves his place. They talked about everything but their careers. This book jumps from the past to present over the first few chapters. It's 2.5 years later and her and Smith pretty much stayed out of reach others way, never talking about what happened.

Now, Amelia is up for promotion and she has to do the player profile on Smith. The guy who never wants anything done on him or his life. He agrees to it but only if Amelia agrees to do all the work herself.

You can pretty much guess where it goes from there. The only issue is there is a no relationship policy between anyone at work. When Amelia gets her promotion she's told she has to let go of Smith for good. Still she chose her job, or love? It's quite shocking and I was a little disappointed with her decisions. She got mad at Smith for her decision...smh.

The narrating was amazing. They were really better than the book was in my opinion. They helped make this story with the way they read it and got into the emotions of things. I quite enjoyed listening to these two together.

wooooooooop i really liked this one. yes the formula was basically the same but i really likes Emilia & Smith !!!!! slay

i’d like this series more if we got more depth but it’s fine for like an easy read, you know? the only drama is like a third act break up which is fine but honestly i could do without it

Is it me or is it hot in here? This is probably one of the steamiest book in this series. The dynamic between Smith and Emilia is *growl*.

Age gap, forbidden "office" romance. And Smith has a dominant streak that gives me shivers! Emilia works in my field but sadly, there are no Smith in my life to sweep me off my feet! HA!

All the of Hunter's trademarks are in here, and you can add a new one, this author can write smut to make you blush!

While this series is decent enough to keep reading, it's also not that memorable. It can be read as a stand alone, which basically I did since I barely recalled the previous characters.

I would also say this is the best one of the series so far. There wasn't much hockey, which is a little disappointing.

There were a couple of things that didn't seem totally resolved but maybe it will be mentioned in a future book? Speaking of... this one should probably be read before the next one as there's a little bit of setting up the next one involved. There are some things that may have been glossed over but it's not as irritating as some books out there.

Would I read again? Possibly.

Finally we get to Smith and Amelia‘s story.

Amelia works for the PR of the Comets. They have a strict rule of no dating the players. Good thing they don’t know she hooked up with the eldest player, Smith. Now she’s up for a promotion and is forced to spend time with him. Can theses two keep their secret or will spending more time together be their downfall?

This was an excellent book. It was full of fun, seriousness, hot sexy sin, and of course love. The main two characters, Amelia and Smith Smith, have such an amazing chemistry that burns up the pages of this book. Of course the characters from the rest of the series make appearances in this book. Blending everything together in perfect harmony.

Overall I would say the book is well written and followed the timeline of the other previous books in the series. It is not a rushed story,. The author took her time to lay out the story line, letting it flow flawlessly. This book will touch on all emotions from laughter to sadness and everything in between. It is a hard to put down book that will leave you wanting more from the series.

I enjoyed this book more than some of the previous in the series but it still left me feeling empty.  I found the characters just remained words on the page - I didn’t feel a connection to them and wasn’t emotionally invested in them or their lives.

However, I did think that Smith & Emilia were a good pairing, both in and out of the bedroom.  I really appreciated seeing Smith not throw a tantrum when Emilia chose her promotion over him - it was great to see yes, he had some time to be sad about it, but after a talk to someone he trusted, he went back to her to show that she was his choice.

Ultimately, this series is more miss than hit for me and I won’t be continuing with it.
