Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency is a fun, easy read that teases detective work and as Douglas Adams is well-known for, just creating the most random, nonsensical story line that could ever be written.
My opinion: read Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy first. If you’re head over heels for Douglas Adams after reading that, read these books to get some more Adams. If you thought his writing was kind of dumb, you don’t deserve this book 😉.
I obviously love his writing, so I’m a little biased when I give this one four stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Overall, Dirk Gently was a little confusing and takes a second to piece together each element because everything seems to start out as a mess and then comes together in the end. But it’s still really entertaining.

This book was super unpredictable, and I really enjoyed the writing style. In the end, it actually blew my mind with how clever it was. Unfortunately, the characters were a bit boring, and the plot was confusing. The only reason I rated it so high is because it's still interesting to read.

Douglas Adams has an humorous, down to earth and unique style of writing. I loved Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy as a kid, and this book was definitely a similar vibe. The story was fun and intriguing, but rather chaotic. It was a nice read to have something to read but I wasn't speeding through it.

Slow to start, but such a satisfying ending.

This book is:
1. Weird
2. Confusing
3. Awesome

A typically warped treat from Douglas Adams. He takes his Doctor Who scripts and runs them in another direction with a know-it-all detective who...well, isn't all he's cracked up to be.
