Omg I cannot believe I didn’t read this when I had the physical book but I hope whoever grabs it from the little free library I dropped it off at loves it as much as I did. The entire book was captivating from start to finish. Poignant, emotional, and important. LOVED it

Everyone needs to read this book. It’s empowering, uplifting, heartbreaking and just important. I loved the family so much, really all the characters. And, apart from King, every character had a redeeming quality. Symbolic of how it wasn’t just “some thug”. He was a child, a friend..someone’s baby. He mattered. This book is so beautiful in highlighting that. Incredible book!

Great read. Incredibly powerful. I read Sister Citizen before reading this and I felt like it really informed my reading and helped me understand the perspective and vocabulary better.

The reality of this book wrecked me. Everyone needs to be wrecked by this book and inspired because unfortunately it’s not fiction.
