I'm sure this book is good poetry. But since coming to college I've solidified my strong dislike of all poetry. I can't deny it anymore. I don't like poetry.
I had to read this for class but we're already passed it and onto finals so this just isn't going to happen.

These poems took a lot of attention to read. I don't generally like poems that play with the shape on the page or are artsy fartsy. That being said, about a fourth of the way through I got hooked. Some gems here.

I want to like this poet and I really did enjoy the stories that were told in this collection however I found I could not deal with her style of poetry. It was felt fragmented to me - perhaps it is my location which makes it difficult to understand the structure. Powerful stories of resistance.

this is a pretty mindblowing collection, the best I've read for a hot minute. Whereas seems to me ! quite iconic & fundamental in American circles but it's relatively unknown even among poets in the UK (admittedly from small samples.,,, hm!).
