This book rocks because it's about a girl who's just a normal girl in fifth grade who discovers a little trophy cup is missing and has to find it, but everyone is trying to stop her. One of her enemies is becoming her best friend, who was her enemy but he's really funny and he can drink orange juice out of his nose!

My daughter (6yo, reading age about 10) loved this! And I am charmed by it. I love how much Clarice loves reading about her hero Ruby, and I enjoyed the way Lauren Child explores the complex relationships younger children have with their friends and relatives. There's a lot of Pippi Longstocking-esque fantasy in the figure of Ruby and plenty of down-to-earthness about Clarice, and the two fuse together nicely. I look forward to sharing more in the series.

I adore the bits of Ruby Redfort, but I also like learning about Clarice Bean, her family, and friends.
What a fun cute book!
It might be a little confusing for kids as the main character, Clarice, is reading a book in this story and scripts for that book are included in this! But apart from that it has fun and adorable illustrations which make it even more interesting!!

Clarice Bean reminds me of Eloise in all the best ways.
