This book was amazing. A sweet story of friendship, over coming hard stuff, and God's grace that my heart desperately needed. Robin is the master at creating 'soul stories," and this one truly touched my soul in several ways. It is a sweet easy read, and a wonderful opener to her new series. As someone who struggles with loneliness and missing have girlfriends that live close to me, this book was a balm to my heart. It is lovely, lovely read.

Becoming Us is a western Christian fiction novel by author Robin Jones Gunn.
Trevor and Emily moved to California from North Carolina to start their own life, with their young daughter, Audra. They moved away from known relatives into unknown territory. Will they make it in California? It’s almost Christ and they need to decide to stay or go back home. Emily has one specific Christmas wish.
Readers familiar with Robin Jones Gunn’s Sisterchicks books will also enjoy this series. It’s a coming of age series focusing on 5 different women. Those not familiar with the author will also enjoy this series.
This first novel is about relationships and how God is at work in their lives. I recommend this novel to fans of women’s Christian fiction. There are questions at the end making it a great book for individual reflection or book groups.

This was a new author for me and I really enjoyed this Christian fiction novel. It sends a message without being “preachy” and focuses on family relationships and the dynamics of friendships. It explores the relationships between mothers and their families, and the influence our own mothers had on those relationships. The characters are relatable and interesting as they navigate real life problems and lean on each other. I look forward to reading more of this author’s works. 4.5/5 stars.
Robin Jones Gunn has done it once again! It is infrequent that I rate a book with five stars, however Becoming Us is a beautifully written tale of trust, growth, marriage & family love, and intimate friendship. From the beginning, I knew that this was not simply a novel. I knew with my whole heart that the author has invited readers into the intimate part of her very soul. Beautifully written, Becoming Us circles back to two of our favorite characters over the year. This is simply a must read for everyone who appreciates a heart on a sleeve.

Such a sweet book! It perfectly touches on the common feelings and uncertainties that can come with adulthood. I am not in the season of life the women in the book are in, but it was still enjoyable!
Thanks to NetGalley and Waterbrook and Multnomah for providing a copy of “Becoming Us” in exchange for an honest review.
“Becoming Us” is just the book I needed. As a first time mom to a two year old, I know how important it is to have friends you can relate to and who have the same morals and beliefs as you. This served as a pick me up for me and was motivational in a way. It reminded me that at the end of the day God has a plan for each one of us and although times can get rough and things be uncertain, you just need to trust in him.

This is such a good book! Gunn never disappoints, but it’s so cool getting to read this as a young woman far from the stage of life these women are in. I pray God will give me a circle of people as sweet and Jesus-loving when I am in that season as the circle in this story!
Oh my goodness. This book. I have never identified with one of Robin’s characters as I have so deeply identified with Emily. Her fears, her struggles, her triumphs, all things I have or will more than likely walk through. I cannot wait for the continuation of this series. I need more!!!
I grew up with Christy Miller and have read all of Robin Jones Gunn’s books. I always connect with the characters in some way and pull some truths that I want to apply to my own life. This book was no exception. I have some highlights that I will hold on to.
I found this book to be not at all what I was expecting. It was still good, but different. It was enjoyable. Solid writing, but just not my favorite by this author. I doubt I will reread this book; it just didn't resonate with me like others by Ms. Gunn do.
