Welp. I finished this. I can't give it one star because I did finish, but my god did I hate this book. Callum is not a morally gray character, he is a red flag abusive asshole. Like ugh, the shit he pulls. Both Callum and Bianca are so whiney. Like I seriously don't know why I finished this book. I was more curious about Tatum, Bianca's best friend and Callum's daughter than I was of these two. I did not care. Ugh. Will not continue the story. Both so whiney. Hated the characters and the pregnancy trope. 🤮 uggghhhhhhh. Really hated it.

I’ve never been a fan of reading, just something about sitting in front of a page never appealed to me, never gripped me. Then I found this book, I. was. hooked.
While this book is what sprouted my love for reading, looking back at it, there wasn’t much of a plot.
I’ve read other books since Empire of Lust which had a way more gripping story line. However if you’re beginning reading smut or only just developing a love for reading and think you’re interested in this sort of content I’d 100% recommend this as your first book.
It was easy to read, gave me an understanding of different genres and opened up a whole load of doors to the sorts of things I could read next.

There was nothing bad about this book whatsoever, but I think there is definitely better out there.

Nice!!! Plot is good. Spice is fantastic. Generally I hate cliffhangers, but I don’t have to wait for the next book- I can start listening to the next audiobook right now— so maybe I just hate unfinished cliffhanger series? Either way this was very well done. 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

Well, that was.

Hm.

Something. A whole disaster.

Did I enjoy this book? No, I did not. Am I going to read the next one when I have more hoopla borrows? Yes, I will.

By god do I love age gap romances. *swoons* Empire of Lust has all the best tropes; age gap, dark romance, rich mafia boss. This is a dark romance, so be warned!
Bianca has always had a crush on her best friend's Dad, Callum. He's handsome, powerful, too bad he won't look at her the way she wants. That all changes when she sees him with another women by the pool engaged in...late night activities. Let's just say he sees her watching and their relationship will never be the same. *wink wink*
This is pretty much mostly smut with some plot (not complaining at all!) and as with all dark romances there are topics and subjects that some readers will not enjoy. (So check your triggers guys!)
I have read quite a few dark romance books and while I appreciated the content warnings the author put, I didn't find it "too much". The characters all had growth and were palatable and the assault warnings happen off the page
to another character
.  The only aspect of the dark romance that for me was like okay we're going there, was when
Callum switches out her birth control for sugar pills and injects her with fertility shots. (But I kinda was like, okay possessive we love it)

Favorite Moment: THE CLUB SCENE *swoons, faints, dies*
Least Favorite Moment: THE BIG REVEAL AND THE BOOK ENDED HOW COULD YOU
This is the first in the series and does end on a big reveal and I will be RACING to read the sequel when it comes out.
