I was not expecting this book to blow me away, but it did. I loved it so much!
Midnight Valentine is an exceptional love story of passion, real life emotions and connection. It's intensity will touch you deep down in your soul. A affecting read, this book is full of twists and turns that will keep you intrigued and on the edge. I cannot count how many times I held my breath, waiting for the next chapter. Beautifully well written.
I loved this so much, I couldn’t put it down. It was such an emotional and beautiful romance.
4.5 stars
What I liked best about this book was the feisty character of Megan and how she was no wilting flower; “I’m not the kind of woman who thinks surliness is charming. All these alpha-holes from romance novels have given women the wrong idea that bad manners are attractive. I also hate talking on the phone, which I stubbornly refuse to remember until I’m in the middle of a conversation, wondering why I didn’t just send a text.” (Megan Dunn, female MC.) MEGAN DUNN IS MY SISTER FROM ANOTHER MISTER!
Second, I felt like the author really understood grieving. I resonated with several lines that touched on the nature of loss.
Third, I believe in what author Robert Moss calls “sidewalk oracles.” I found charming all the coincidences and synchronicity in the book, even though sometimes it was over-the-top.
I would’ve liked to have read the incorporation of the quote by Arthur Conan Doyle, “Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth.” What happened in this plot wasn’t impossible.
Suzanne had some great lines: “Suzanne says flatly, “That was depressing. Remind me not to invite you over for Christmas dinner. You’ll give the baby Jesus a migraine.” “Sorry. Is it too early in the morning for nihilism?”
This was such an interesting book! I think it would be hard to find a category that it snuggly fits. It has elements of paranormal but for romance, that usually means shifters and vampires rather than versions of near death experiences or hybrid reincarnation. I felt greedy at the end. I wanted more epilogue. The actual epilogue is two months after the last chapter. I wanted this “two months later” and then “a year later.” Also, I wanted to know what happens to Colleen.
Poor Theo, I think he went through the wringer worse than anyone. Upon reading the acknowledgments, I noted that the author said that originally, she had different plans for the ending of this book. I think I caught a sense of her original intent in the latter chapters. (Foreshadowing!) I was on pins and needles hoping that the alternative ending wasn’t going to happen. I’m so glad it didn’t! The world has a lot of sadness in it, a lot of grief, a lot of trauma. I believe that death is not the end. I believe that energy never dies, it only changes shape or form. But a HEA in the same world works best for me!

Talk about a surprise read! I went into this book completely blind and I suggest you do too, the only thing you need to know is that true love never dies. Now go on your merry way and enjoy this beautifully intricate and completely bunkers story.
Oh boy what a roller-coaster ride of emotions this was. Not gonna lie it started as a 3 stars for me, I couldn’t get into the MCs, found Suzanne annoying and already had an idea of where the story was going that with each passing page kept becoming more and more of a reality. What completely turned around this book for me was chapter 21, I did not know I cared about them until I was sobbing in the middle of a sex scene. Theo and Megan sneaked up on me slowly disarming my walls until I was putty in their hands, after that I was a goner. I flew pass the next chapters captivated by the direction this was going and you will too.
"I wonder at what age it becomes socially acceptable to say whatever you’re really thinking and do whatever you want, regardless of what’s polite. Seventy? Eighty?
God, I can’t wait."
Me too girl, me too.
Sassy boss ass queen with tough as nails exterior Megan Dunn came to Seaside chasing the last piece of her soulmate. After his death five years ago, she was left picking up the pieces of her heart. Seaside offers a new beginning, a chance to fulfill their last dream. Her expectations were simple move into her new house, Buttercup B&B, bring it back to life and live her remaining years with the memory of what could have been. She was not expecting the dark broad-shouldered shadow that seems to follow her everywhere or the unexpected feelings that seem to accompany her every time he is near.
Born and raised in Seaside Theo Valentine was the golden boy; captain of the football team, prom king and engaged to his high-school sweetheart. He was loved by everyone, he had it all until the accident. Now he’s become a shell of what he used to be, broke off his engagement, poured his into his job and hasn’t utter a word since then.
Midnight Valentine is the kind of story that makes you believe again, in a love that is willing to fight, in a world where mind and heart are constantly at war. Belief is a double edge sword because it has the power to break us or build us from the ground up but if you are willing to suspend it for a few seconds the other side can be so rewarding.

"Some mysteries are meant to live in the dark, quiet places of our hearts, kept safe and sacred."

“Sometimes following your heart means losing your mind.”
I wouldn’t necessarily say that this is my typical read.i really liked the author and I will say that the plot intrigued me. I was drawn specifically to Theo and his mutism. Wanting to immediately know if it was selective, etc. So...I read this in one day. Legit didn’t eat until I finished it. It was hauntingly raw and beautiful. The chemistry that was between Megan and Theo was desperate and explosive. M was amazing with her stubborn will and snark and I loved her all through the book. Theo...he was so beautiful and raw. I’m speechless. Thank you for this lovely book and the characters in them
