Love on the Cape by M. K. Meredith

This is the first book in the author's Cape Van Buren: On the Cape series and if I could give this book more than 5 Stars I would because it's fantastic. You'll laugh, cry, cheer and go through so many emotions just reading about Larkin Sinclair and Ryker Van Buren and their journey of healing both of them so they could fins a future together. Because as the author says: "The answer to life's puzzle is Love".

Larkin Sinclair loves the Cape house because she could connect to her son, Archer, who was killed in a car accident. What she doesn't know is that Archer is everywhere even though he's gone so when she finds out that Ryker has bought his grandmother's house and wants to develop in she'll do anything to stop the project. He wants to erases his childhood abuse by his dad and it will take a wishing well accident to finally understand that he has moved beyond the pain he endured. Plus will he stop the project and decide to bring joy to those going through grief of a lost loved one.

Bring tissues because you'll need them for both laughing with the North Shore Cape ladies especially Maxine and her moonshine and when Larkin reaches out to Claire who lost her fiance at the same time as Archer and Larkin's husband John. I can't wait to read the next book!

As a mother, this book hit a soft spot with me. I cannot imagine the grief and pain from the loss of a child. This book is filled with loss, resentment, acceptance, and healing. Learning to let go of the past is one of the hardest parts of life. But in Love on the Cape, it’s the answer to moving on and hopefully to finding happiness.

It has been two years since Larkin Sinclair lost her son Archer in a car accident. To cope with his death she spends her days visiting their favorite place on the Cape and reliving memories. This is all she has left to live for. It makes her feel close to Archer. When she finds out the property has been sold to the old owner’s grandson and that he plans to redevelop some of her son’s favorite spots she knows that she has to do everything in her power to stop him. The mission to save the cape helps bring Larkin back to life, That might not be the only thing that makes her feel alive again once she meets Ryker, the handsome and irresistible grandson she is out to stop.

Ryker Van Buren has one focus in his life and it's to destroy Cape Van Buren and all memories from his childhood with his abusive father. so when he purchased the land from his Grandmother he plans to redevelop and make it into a family community earning him a small fortune in the process. After meeting Larkin Sinclair his plans are on hold when she manages to place an order to halt any work. He can understand her wanting to save the Cape for her son's happy childhood memories. But he is blinded by the pain that he was cheated out of his own happy childhood memories.
Will Larkin and Ryker be able to move on from the past? Will the cape be saved or destroyed? Most of all with they be able to love again?

By MK Meredith
4/5 Stars

Love on the Cape : An On the Cape Novel,Cape Van Buren is the first book in the series by MK Meredith. It is a story about loss and love. Rediscovering yourself again and overcoming obstacles.
I haven't ever read anything by MK Meredith before. But now that I have , I'm a huge fan!! This story has touched my soul!!
It's written in such a beautiful manner, where you feel everything the character does! You will feel her pain and anguish, it will make you cry! I know it made me cry!!
On the coast of Cape Van Buren , Maine… Larkin Sinclair is living in her past, the memories of her husband and her beloved son,Archer. Losing a husband is one thing, but losing your son… it's not supposed to be that way! It's such an unbearable pain, Larkin doesn't know how to move on. So she does what any grief stricken person would do, she lives in the past. The memories are the only thing that make life a tad more bearable!
Ryker Van Buren is the CEO of Van Buren Enterprises. He has huge plans for developing the historic Cape Van Buren. He wants to turn it into a gold-platform playground for the extremely wealthy. He is trying to escape from the past and those painful memories. He wants to sell The Cape Van Buren, piece by piece.
But Larkin is on a mission. She refuses to let Ryker turn the one place, that reminds her of Archer into a Place for the wealthy. She wants to preserve The Cape into something beautiful! She wants to turn it into something in honor of her son, Archer.
Once Ryker and Larkin meet, sparks fly. Even though they both try to deny it. They are instantly attracted to one another. But they are both wanting something completely different for The Cape Van Buren. Will they be able to put their disagreements aside? Will love win?
Will the twins broken souls, be able to build a future together ? And find true happiness once and for all?
You must read this story between Ryker and Larkin to see what happens with this amazing love story!! You will be rooting for these two from the beginning !! Great job, MK Meredith! I can't wait to read your next book!!

They’re both fighting for the Cape; her to save her memories, him to erase his. They can’t help but be drawn to one another even though they both know it will lead to heartbreak. Definitely some tears. Loved it.

Book Review: Love on the Cape an On the Cape novel
Author: MK Meredith
Five Stars
This is my first read from MK Meredith and I can honestly say it will not be my last. I laughed out loud and I cried openly at different times in this story. I found it very hard to put this book down long enough to go pick my son up from Marching Band Rehersal.
I am in love with Larkin and Ryker. Their historys, the devistation they both have suffered in their lives and the way they are brought together. Ryker trying to destroy the childhood memories that exist on the Cape for him and Larkin trying to keep her happiest memories alive on the Cape. How the two of the could experience such different things in the same place at different times. How they both want something different to come from the Cape now.

How do they make this work? The attraction between the two of them is magnetic and yet they have this huge conflict to work out concering what becomes of the Cape home.
Full of heartwrenching tales of their pasts. Rykers abusive childhood and Larkin remembering her son's happy laughter and the many wishes at the well. Will they be able to come to an understanding or will everything they have discovered about each other come crumbling down in a pile of rubble?
I do know I want to meet Maxine and I have to get my hands on some of that moonshine! I also can't wait to read about Larkins best friend in the next book.

Love on the Cape is an emotional romance story by M. K. Meredith. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I really enjoyed it. I loved the relationship between Larkin and Ryker as it wasn’t your usual boy meets girl scenario. Yes there was this intense attraction between them but their pasts was always there in the background. There were a few tear jerking moments for me in this story too. I thought that the author had a really great writing style and she was able to hook me into the book straight away and fall in love with her characters.
My heart truly broke for Larkin and the more of her past I read about the more tears I shed for her but throughout that I admired her determination. Her determination to fight to save something that meant so much to her. I’m pretty sure anyone who has read this will agree that there is one part near the end of the book that is just completely devastating and it almost destroyed me! I was full on sobbing! There was not one point in this story where I disliked her; she was a really lovely character.
Ryker is one of those characters where you can’t decide whether you like him or not. The story of his past comes out quite quickly so I found myself changing my opinion about him fairly soon. He was certainly grumbly and moody but he also had this incredibly sweet and sexy side. Some of the scenes between him and Larkin were really swoon-worthy!!
I loved the secondary characters too and they certainly provided a few laugh out loud moments, especially Ryker’s Grandmother and her dating exploits!
I think Love on the Cape definitely had all of the elements that I enjoy in a romance story. It had likeable characters, sweet and tender moments, a few intimate scenes, a few humorous moments in between and some tear jerking situations.

Love on the Cape by MK Meredith
Rated 4 stars

Larkin Sinclair and Ryker Van Buren's first meeting was good and not so good. Larkin learned a few things she didn't want to know about the Cape and a few things she hasn't thought about in a while about the opposite sex. When she finds out that Maxine Van Buren sold her property to Ryker, her grandson, she thought all was lost. Then to find out he was redeveloping the area for houses and condos. She just couldn't let that happen. She needed that property to be left as it is.
I was looking forward to reading this book. When I read the synopsis is sounded great with the possibility of a lot of back and forth between the two characters. Sadly there is mostly narrative with the characters doing a lot of background thinking. The tension between Larkin and Ryker does pick up with more dialog and it moves along after that. It is a good story in a cute little town in Maine. There is a lot of activity that goes on in town that help keep the story interesting. This book does deal with a couple of hard issues and how they come to terms with the after effects.

Judge Carter and Maxine are a hoot. They definitely add to the story. Actually all the secondary characters put a little zest into the story. Without them I'm afraid the story might be too melancholy since both Larkin and Ryker are coming from not so great pasts.
I really liked the part of the story where Larkin is thinking that she wants to keep the past alive while Ryker only wants to see the future. How could they ever meet in the middle?
I would be interested in the next book just because I like Blayne and who knows what kind of friend Ryker will invite down.

Love on the Cape: an On the Cape novel, Cape Van Buren by MK Meredith is a story about healing and learning to move forward from the past. This is my first story by this author and I enjoyed her writing style. Her development of characters are so true to life and relateable. These characters will pull you into their world and make you feel like you are right there with them. They are full of romance and the banter back and forth make the story fun to read. These characters will take you on an emotional roller coaster that you won't want to miss! Find out what happens to these characters as they start a journey of healing and moving forward in order to find their happiness.

Larking Sinclair is a woman who has been living in the past instead of trying to stay in the present. What will happen when she finds out that her memories and home maybe in jeopardy? Cape Van Buren has a new owner and his plans to use it to create a play ground for the wealthy. Will she find a way to stop it? Will she find a way to preserve the Cape along with her memories? Her fear isn't of the company but of the owner. Arrogant one minute and beautiful wounded the next, he awakens something in her that she hasn't felt since her son was alive.

Ryker Van Buren is a man who needs to have some closure to his dark childhood and what other way to do that then to demolish his family home. He is the rightful owner of the estate and can do what he wants. What better way to get rid of his past then to sell it off and build a community on it. When he lays eyes on her, will he change his mind? He can't seem to stop thinking about her. The worst part is that he can't get her off his land or out of his dreams. When their pasts collide, what will happen?

Larking and Ryker's relationship is one that is strained from the beginning but yet there is an attraction. Neither one can stop thinking of each other. The one thing they have in common is they both have broken souls. What will happen when they recognize each others pain? Will they be able to help each other heal? When there is a chance of love, will they take it or will it get away from them? They are both strong characters that really just broken from their pasts. You will enjoy seeing them grow throughout the story, they become stronger as their story grows. She is determined to stop his plans and preserve her memories. He is determined to destroy what remains of his childhood but at what cost? The secondary characters are really supportive of both of these characters. You will enjoy the grandmother in this story as she is funny, smart and has a reason for everything she does. You will fall in love with these characters as they really do make this story flow and keep things real. Find out what happens to these characters, will they find their HEA or will his plans blow everything up?

This is my first story by MK Meredith and I know it won't be the last! I can't wait to see what she has for us next in this series. MK she writes on the promise of an emotional ride on heated sheets. She lives with her husband and two children. You will enjoy how she has created a story that will pull you into a world of hurt, passion and forgiving. You will have a hard putting this book down once you get into the story. You will need to see what happens on every page. I highly recommend this story as I know you will want to see what happens with these characters and if love will conquer all.

My first book by MK Meredith and I absolutely love this book. No jealous exes, no conniving evilness lurking about. Just two people with terrible pasts trying to overcome their misery and heart ache. Neither believing that love would find them. Of course their own stubbornness is the only thing standing in their way, that and The Cape.

The characters were believable, lovable, emotional, passionate, just perfect in their un-perfectness. Not only the main characters of Ryker and Larkin (by the way…awesome and original names!) but those “secondary” characters had life and personalities all on their own! Maxine…OMG I want to be her when I grow up! Blayne is the best friend character and is awfully quiet which leaves me to think she has a big story to tell! I am sure there are stories waiting to be told about each of the North Cove’s Mavens! Each character, not only the male ones but the female ones are so strong! Especially the females! No weak damsel in distress in this story!

The story itself was easy reading which means it flowed smoothly. There were minor flash backs that were clearly indicated so there was no confusion as to what was happening when. The time line progression was real…no fast forward 12 years. Even the romance was good, it fit with the story. The passion was heart-warming, the pain…raw.

I highly recommend this story and will be personally looking for the next story by MK Meredith.
