“in this moment, we are two souls, marooned.”

the writing was beautiful and the interactions between characters were entertaining!! (i love love love altair)
however, the plot was a little boring and it starts off really slow, but it does get faster nearing the end. i’m also not a big fan of enemies to lovers so i wasn’t really interested in the romance.

still going to read the next book for altair :,)

the amount of giggling and kicking my feet that occurred while reading this was so actually insane.

The most compelling thing about this one id definitely well thought-out characters and character relationships and dynamics. Every character had its rightful place and at no point did I think an interaction was a "throwaway" or just added. Everything felt meaningful and deliberate.

Am I just slightly confused about the world? Yes. Am I blaming myself for not reading the physical version where referencing a map would be very easy and solve this problem? Also yes.

The prose and writing of this book was also a huge draw-in for me. It reminded me a lot of The Alchemist, but I can't tell if it's because it is similar or the vibes are. Honestly, I don't really care and will decide again upon rereading The Alchemist.

Truly there are 2 things that are barring this being a 5-star for me. 1, I didn't cry or feel very immensely about anything. Which, is my fault admittedly. 2, it just got the TINIEST bit repetitive in interactions between Nasir and Zafira. Not that it's a bad thing per se because the way they are written kinda alludes to the "magical draw" (whether it's magical or not) but I think if it were used the tiniest bit less it could have made the moment that relied on those feeling being written so much more powerful.

Lastly, I think they should make a movie or series. Why? because I saw movies and series worth moments throughout this whole book, and I like films :)
