I loved this conclusion, say what you will. It’s an optimistic story, but what’s wrong with that? Having stories about positions of power that have a hapoy ending are refreshinn to me… even if the solution does happen to involve magic. Still, it was a great read. Side note- I LOVE the worldbuilding of the sandwings.

Sunny gets her time to shine!! This is mostly a solo adventure for Sunny with a wrap-up of the first arc in the third part of the book. For a middle grade series, there was some pretty strong social commentary in this book about circumstances you’ve been born into and how that might affect your choices. As well as the entire first arc being fairly anti-war, it’s really brought into the forefront here. I was very excited at who ended up being Queen of the SandWings and called it from afar, but hey, that’s JFIC for ya. Peril and Riptide also make appearances so that made me a happy clam. I’ll have to see if I continue the series as I’m not sure if the rest of the books follow the same dragonets, or if we meet new ones. If I don’t, this was a solid ending to this story.
Graphic: Animal cruelty, Animal death, Child death, Death
Moderate: Confinement, Violence, Kidnapping, War, Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Genocide, Suicide

PHENOMENAL. I love Sunny as a protagonist so much, she’s just really fun to read. Also ends the first arc in a nice spot, wraps up previous threads nicely, and introduces some fantabulous characters (Smolder is just like me fr). I actually didn’t remember liking this one too much, which is a shame because it’s a fantastic book!

Enjoyed this ending to the Arc in the series. It nicely ended the war and Sunny finally got some spotlight and her skills in loyalty and socialization were thoughtfully displayed only qualm is that the dragons of the continent didn't actually chose the queen which kinda defeated the purpose of books.
