I really enjoyed Solo: A Star Wars movie (yes, flaws and all), so I am trying to read some of the canonical media tie-ins. Now, I think everyone in Solo did a wonderful job portraying their characters but Donald Glover as our favorite smooth talking smuggler Lando Calrissian was certainly a high light. Like many folks, I left the movie theater wanting a full length Lando feature. While Disney has hinted that maybe they'll give the fans exactly this, in the mean time, we have Lando: Double or Nothing to enjoy.

This is a fun, but short, story about Lando Calrissian. There isn't much to this story as this is the beginning of a story arc. The young, prideful Lando is recruited to help liberate an oppressed people (under the hand of the Emprie) on the planet Kullgroon by a woman named Kristiss. It's a light story with some really fun Millennium Falcon/TIE Fighter action, and some snarky dialogue between Lando and L3. I'll be interested in seeing what happens next and if Lando will bail on Kristiss if it looks like the Empire proves to be a threat to his gambling ways or things become more complicated than just a simple liberation/rescue mission.

This is what Star Wars should be.

More Lando please! This was pretty awesome. There is no reason not to make more canon around the time Lando was captain of the Falcon. This seemed to keep the spirit of the character as portrayed by Donald Glover and it beautifully leads right up to the where we pick up his story in Solo: A Star Wars Story. I personally can't get enough of Lando material. There is a lot to flesh out with his character and I LOVE L337. This graphic novel was full of action as our favorite scoundrel balances his ego and his ethics, punching back on a young Empire. I hold out hope that we get some more from this era and they can (possibly) work in canon versions of some of the staple characters and story arcs from legends, done anew for readers in original stories.
