I got this book in one of the blind dates with a book things at Barnes and Noble and I fell in love with the book so much. It was cute and sweet. I fell in love with all the characters for their own way. 10000000/10 recommend for anyone.

Not my favorite Kasie West book. I think it could have been shorter--I didn't really get interested until about halfway through when the romance line started picking up.

why can’t y’all make year later chapters. i literally get so annoyed when i expect there to be one more chapter and then there’s just not

This book is such a light read. It is beautifully written and every time i finish it I want to forget it and read it for the first time again! Brooks and Avery’s story is so cute and I love how they help each other. The other characters are also super unique and lovable.

“Sometimes staying in the box we’ve made for ourselves is so easy. It’s comfortable and familiar in there. And a lot of times, the people around us want us to stay in there, too, because that’s how they’ve always known us: in that box. But sometimes we start to change, grow, and the box begins to get small and cramped. And yet we fight to stay inside because the walls are high and climbing out seems harder than staying.”

Kasie West books are a hit or miss for me. This one wasn't bad but I didn't love it. I really enjoyed the character growth in this. I think the singing was a great way to show that growth. It even showed the character opening up more and realizing things that she didn't think about like her sister's vlogging thing. She didn't think it was as huge as it actually was until she started noticing more things around her. I think the love interest and her were pretty cute, as well.

  • I had a good time reading this. It was serious but not overly so. It was enjoyable and thought provoking but not depressing. I really like Kasie West's books because I think the fill the space of fluffy-sweet- but-not-stupid that used to be more present in YA that has recently all but disappeared in favor of more serious/heavy stories.
  • I enjoyed the development between her and mmc, but I also really enjoyed how much the book centered around her-- her journey to stand on her own and come into herself with who she is and how she allows people( dad, sister, and best friend) to see her and also how she wants to handle the new relationships that she starts and the old relationship that exists before. Her journey with singing and writing was fun to watch and it felt like I was rooting for friend as she chose to move forward and take her risks

I love a good fluffy Kasie West book and this one didn't disappoint!
