Mhh I don´t know... I wasn't a huge fan of this one, to be honest. I thought it was a bit boring and unstructured and I didn´t connect to the main characters. I think all characters act really age-appropriate but that's why sometimes their actions annoyed me a bit. There were very few deeper conversations about what was going on with Brooks family and in general, characters were described only superficially.
Furthermore, Avery's character felt a little like a mix of Lily´s from [b:P.S. I Like You|25486998|P.S. I Like You|Kasie West|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1442247987l/25486998._SX50_.jpg|45261093] and Autum´s from [b:By Your Side|30256248|By Your Side|Kasie West|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1472078174l/30256248._SY75_.jpg|45813875] (Avery is a people-pleaser, likes bad jokes and writes song lyrics) and the plot was also very similar to some of her other novels. I guess this was the main reason the book just didn´t interest me enough...
I did like the last 100 pages just fine because by then things were happening and I got through the book faster. The start was rather slow and it´s definitely not my favourite West book but I still think she is a great author and writes great, cute romance novels for younger audiences.

This book wasn’t bad, but I felt that the writing was too young for YA, it felt like I was reading a Kids book. The characters were mainly older teens (17/18) but I didn’t feel like they acted their age.
I didn’t dislike the book, but I only liked the end half, I didn’t feel much of a connection between the MC and the love interest until closer to the end.
The whole MC has a secret singing talent thing is a bit over used (that isn’t a spoiler because it is a big part of the plot)
I also felt that the cover was not fitting for the very heavy music and singing theme in the book, there should have been some sort of something on the cover (a guitar a microphone etc)
I went into this book completely blind and had no idea that the band thing and the singing thing was such a big part of the plot.
It did however entertain me though, and it gave summery vibes.

A swoony contemporary YA romance by fan-favorite author Kasie West about a girl who finds that a summer spent at a family resort isn't as bad as she imagined...and that falling in love is filled with heartache, laughter, and surprises!
I listened to this book on Libby. I enjoyed reading this. This was a cute, lighthearted, fun, quick read. I liked that there’s music in here, it’s set at a family resort and the main character Avery falls in love with a cute, forbidden staff member named Brooks. I could relate to Avery. I saw myself in her because she loves music, is a people pleaser, avoids conflict and doesn’t stand up for herself. Other reviews I’ve read about this book compare it to the movie Dirty Dancing and I think that’s accurate. This book is a YA version of Dirty Dancing except it has singing instead of dancing and I like music. Even though I enjoyed reading this and I liked the plot, I like Dirty Dancing better. Maybe I would have enjoyed this more if I didn’t already see Dirty Dancing.

I think everyone knows that I'm one of Kasie West's biggest fans. She is a master of capturing the essence of teen love. Her books are always easy, fun, heartwarming reads, and Sunkissed was no exception.
The story takes place at a summer camp—away from the outside world, including Avery's best friend, who Avery recently caught kissing her ex-boyfriend. The camp is a welcome distraction from the drama of her life, but it also brings new adventures, friends, and possibly a cute boy with a guitar to steal her heart (it is a Kasie West novel, after all).

This is a fantastic summer read and is sure to leave your heart warm—perhaps even... sunkissed ;)

Overall it was a fine read. Pretty slow at times but was an easy read. Found the main character’s flaws to be a bit insufferable and definitely felt like a book I would’ve enjoyed much more in middle school. Felt kinda like a bad disney channel show. Lots of cringey moments as well, specifically involving the song writing/lyrics.
Ive made a habit of reading just about every book that Kasie West has published and they are beginning to feel more childish than I remember, along with having the same story be told over and over again.
But it is an easy read with fun characters.
