adventurous challenging emotional funny hopeful lighthearted reflective fast-paced

I had such high hopes for this book, but it just ended up falling flat for me. Kasie West is an auto-buy author. After I read Pivot Point by her in 2013, I fell in love with her writing. I have read every single one of her books and haven't given a single one under 4 stars. I can honestly tell you that this was my least favorite by her.

While the first couple of chapters started off strong, the story soon got boring and I was questioning why nothing was happening. Then there was the whole situation where employees at the summer camp couldn't date each other OR hang out when guests when they weren't working. This just didn't really make any sense to me. Why was this so strict when most of the employees were older teens and adults and the guests were families? I can understand this being a rule for a more established business; however, this was a summer camp. If a guest becomes friends with an employee, so what? I just didn't see the big deal.

It honestly took about 60 or 70% into the book for it to finally pick up (right around the time when Brooks and Avery had their first kiss). After that, the book became my lovable Kasie West writing again. I started laughing out loud more, and it was just super cute towards the end. That's honestly why this ended up with three stars instead of 2.

While I did end up liking this book, most of it was boring, so I can't really recommend it unless you are specifically looking for a summer camp book. However, I do recommend all her other books because she is honestly such an amazing YA contemporary writer.

Gave me dirty dancing vibes, but musically. It was completely clean, and I really liked it.

Ohh where to start. I loved this book sooooooooooo much (probably with another hundred "o" s on the so). I'm not exaggerating when I say I couls not put this book down. I finished it in two days only because I need sleep. Definitely worth every single one of those 305 pages. I'm definitely going to read more of Kasie West's books from now on.

If you enjoy dirty dancing then this book is for you. Very cute book overall. The characters are adorable. I love that it was a resemblance to dirty dancing but without the age gap. Very young adult book that I truly enjoyed and recommend for a high school or middle school child could read. I also love the fact that the main characters were trying new things through out summer in order to find themselves. I think high school students do have a hard time trying to navigate finding a balance between what they have always been and what they want to be.
