Super cute summer romance for teens. It definitely has Dirty Dancing vibes.
I will say the conflict was wrapped up really fast at the end. it was honestly too fast for my taste, compared the story building to get to that point. but it's all preference at that point.

A story about someone discovering themselves and finding their confidence.
Send to a camp with no internet or technology, Avery and her family have to cope for several weeks.
Avery struggles with stage fright and with an incident that happened with her best friend before she left.
Avery discovers a band and a mysterious Brooks.
Soon Avery gets herself involved in writing songs and hanging with the band more.
This wasn't my favourite Kasie West book, but this one was still adorable.
I really liked how it ended.
I recommend this if you like music and bands and a camp of no technology.

I enjoyed this fun summer camp story! It's the perfect book for all the summer vibes.
There was lots of comedy and, just like Kasie's other books, Sunkissed contained characters who are really passionate about what they love. This time it was music, which also reminded me of Moment of Truth and how much Hadley loved music in that one.
There's not much else to say except that. Sunkissed was fun and Avery's sister is very relatable. I enjoyed the romance and the friends that Avery made along the way.

This book sucked me in from the first page and I couldn’t put it down!!!
Anything by Kasie West is an automatic read for me and this one did not disappoint! This has all the sweet Dirty Dancing vibes.
Sisters, Avery and Lauren, and their parents spend 2 months at a resort with NO INTERNET! Avery falls in love with a worker and Lauren is the annoying little sister who never seems to go away but mostly had good intentions.
Avery spends the summer trying to mend her broken heart and best friend’s betrayal, explore new things, and try to get her parents to see her more than boring and predictable. She and Lauren become friends with several of the workers and have an awesome summer making memories and music.
I’m always a sucker for a sweet Kasie West romance and this did not disappoint. Easy read, relatable characters, and sweet romance to make you feel relaxed and ready to start the summer.
Thank you NetGalley and Random House/Delacorte publishing for the ARC. The thoughts and opinions of this review are my own.

When you start a Kasie West book, you can be pretty sure you're going to get some wholesome cuteness and that's absolutely what Sunkissed is as well. If you're looking for a great fluffy romance this summer, this one is definitely a good option!
Since a few months ago, I've been slowly realising that YA just isn't always my thing anymore. The older ones I still absolutely love, but overall there's been a few that I would've loved a lot more if they were a little more mature. Starting on Sunkissed, I was hoping that it wouldn't be too 'high school drama'-centred and it wouldn't add itself to the list of ones I don't hate, but just can't really fully enjoy because I feel like I've outgrown them. I can very happily declare that, thanks to Avery (the MC), I did not have that problem at all!
Avery is 17 and has a sort of anxiety (not explicitly stated, but clearly there) and she's a huge people-pleaser (can very much relate to both). These two things that have kept her back from finding herself have also made her very emotionally mature and empathetic. She's the opposite of a childish brat and that seems to be exactly what I need to enjoy YA romances about high schoolers. Avery is mature enough to understand other people's emotions, as well as her own in situations like when she realises right away when she happened to have said some things she shouldn't have.
The romance was so cute! The romance is always the whole reason I read Kasie West books and this one was another great one for sure! Avery and Brooks share a love for music and it's so nice to see them enjoy their passion together.
Brooks is similar to Avery in certain ways (he's also a people-pleaser), but in other ways he complements her really well and he manages to support her in the ways she needs him to.
Their fight towards the end was very much my least favourite part of this book because it was so petty and it made it feel very out of character for Avery.
The best friend plotline I'm kind of not sure about. I like the way it sets Avery's story up and how it's one of the elements that motivate her to start finding herself, but the way it ended... Luckily the whole Shay thing was honestly kinda minor in the overall story.
TL;DR: A really cute, summery romance about finding your passion when all you've ever done is go along with what people expect you to do.

Spoiler
I know Avery literally states (in her mind) that Shay and her aren't what they were before and it would take a long time for them to get back to that point, but... it's not even just about Shay having kissed Trent. Avery says somewhere at the beginning that Shay has talked bad about Avery behind her back and has pretty much overall been a kinda toxic friend, while she's supposed to be her BEST friend. So I'm like?? Why are they fine already? I'm not saying they can never be friends again, but the only thing that happened/changed was that Avery finally stood up for herself for like 2mins and told Shay to leave the camp, but Shay never did anything from her side to prove that she can be a good friend? They never even really talked over the whole Trent drama.TL;DR: A really cute, summery romance about finding your passion when all you've ever done is go along with what people expect you to do.

Thank you Penguin Random House International for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
How long has it been since I last read a Kasie West book? She's one of my go-to YA authors whose novels take away effectively my reading slump. Sunkissed is a good summer themed story set in camp. Avery Young and her family spend their vacation in the mountains, no internet connection and physical activities.
Sometimes it's nice to unwind away from the social media and reflect. Avery is a quiet, talented girl who loves music but needs to overcome her stage fright. With the help of Brooks, the boy she met at the camp and is part of the band, worked together in a competition. Both worked on their music secretively.
The story is decent but something is missing. The main characters lacked the romance build up and I find them platonic. The ending was cute but I am not head-over-heels in love with it unlike The Distance Between Us or On the Fence. I miss that vibe.

Kasie West books are the perfect kind of escape when my life is crazy and stressful. They are light and fluffy and just overall make my heart happy.
