Kasie West

3.7 AVERAGE

3.5

It was a fun little read. It's generally why I like most, if not all, of Kasie's books.

I've lost most of the details on this one, so I can't really comment beyond that. My fault for waiting too long to add my latest reads.

Would I read again? Maybe?

Another wonderful Kasie West book!

I loved this little camp escape. It really sparked some Dirty Dancing nostalgia. Avery was a very enjoyable narrator to hang out with, and the romance between her and Brooks was THE SWEETEST. Their banter had me smiling as I read, and then circling back to reread lines so I could smile over them all over again.

Honestly, I have not yet been let down by one of West’s books. They are always just what I need.

3.5 ⭐️!!

This was a cute, quick read. It was definitely heavy on the YA clichés so I didn't love that, but I did like the variety of characters and how we got to see Avery come out of her shell throughout the book. Pretty predictable, but a fun read!

One of my favorite summer reads!

I really enjoyed this book! I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I haven’t been reading YA but I thought this would be a nice change for me. I really enjoyed this story and the characters. It wasn’t super deep but I liked the hurdles the characters had to overcome. The whole story was very fun and cute. I’m very glad I picked this up on a deal.

This is another Kasie West book that I felt was just okay. The beginning felt really slow, but it did pick up once they were at the camp after a while. Some of the logistics that were never answered bothered me-- how did her parents afford this apparently verrrrry expensive camp for all summer on their salaries? I loved most of the side characters a lot and wish we had seen a bit more about those relationships, especially the dynamic with her sister and parents. For as much as this was supposed to be a family camp experience, we don't get much family time (except as part of grounding, and even then it's only vaguely mentioned). We really see Avery let people kind of walk all over her for most of the book so although it was nice to see her take a stand there at the end, I wish there had been more small steps she was taking to show her building that confidence instead of doormat to kind of immediate I AM WOMAN HEAR ME ROAR. While this was cute, it wasn't quite fleshed out enough for me.

*Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!

"I'm not saying you need to do anything differently. But if you aren't feeling like yourself lately, if you're feeling uncomfortable and a bit cramped, maybe it's time to start climbing."

Oh my dear, sweet Kasie West. How do you make me love your books so much when every other YA romance now makes me cringe?
This book gave me Dirty Dancing vibes right from the beginning, with a young girl trying to find herself and happening to find herself through the summer camp staff musician. With an enemies-to-lovers then forbidden romance, this summer book was exactly what I needed in the -45 weather I am currently facing. I found Avery to be incredibly relatable as a main character, and I loved the banter between her and Brooks. Another 5-star Kasie West book.

Okay wow.... Kasie West delivering once again.

I literally loved this book so much. I honestly think this was my favorite out of all the ones I have read written by her (that's a bold statement considering I read literally all her books). Some people may call this book hecka cliche and hey maybe sometime it is. But gosh darn it didn't feel that way. This book created a new love for music and a new appreciation for summer camp and cute guys.

Avery is literally the most relatable teenage girl I have ever read... (okay maybe not.. Im just excited). I loved her completely, every part of her was so stinkin adorable. And my goodness her and Brooks.... I have no words. Brooks is also literally so relatable.. (all I have learned from this book honestly, is Kasie West really knows how to write them) Lauren is a whole mood and Marci and Kai and Levi and Ian and all my children.

So yes, obviously I would recommend this book to all the YA romance fans out there, but also to all the peoples looking for that wholesome Kasie West read, because as I said before she really delivers.
