Ummm....hello. This book was amazing. Aurora is on the run from an abusive ex. When she accidentally hit Seven and his brother Elijah and Atticus. Atticus offers her a job she can't refuse but learns later it's might be more then she bargain for. This book has some major twists and ends on a cliffhanger that has me excited for the next book.

Running from an abusive ex she ends up with criminals.

Aurora and her dog Elle are running from her abusive ex when she accidentally hits a guy in the middle of nowhere totalling her car. Turns out there are three of them and they call themselves brothers. She finds that she is weirdly comfortable with these men.

Having no where else to go she takes the cleaning job they offer her. The amount they offer is ridiculous especially for an extremely clean home. Atticus however sees an opportunity to finally get their revenge.

When Atticus sets her up to fail by having her cleaning Elijah's art studio things come to a head but it starts him on a path to healing.

When Elijah and Seven take her to Paris to get her hair done and buy her some clothes everything really starts to come out.

The Paris trip involves a new look, an art exhibition, grand larceny, a gun fight, and some explosive smexy times. All while Atticus is home spoiling the dog and freaking out about what is happening in Paris.

The whole story of everything that is going on is intense and tragic. Aurora is finding where she fits into this family and it is safe but also very scary letting them in. However, not everything is as it seems.

The end of this part is brutal and leaves Aurora struggling with her own demons and not speaking to one of the brothers.

I can't wait to see how he fixes that. I also can't wait to see them finally complete their mission.

White Rose Painted Red by Elena Lawson and Blake Lawson is a dark, fast-burning ride that gripped me from page one and didn’t let go. Full of tension, secrets, and twisted, oh-so-delicious chemistry, it delivers a why choose romance that's as emotional as it is dangerous.

Aurora’s journey from survivor to something fiercer completely hooked me. I loved how layered and combustible her dynamic was with Atticus, Elijah, and Seven, the three broken, dangerous men who claim space in her life in wildly different ways. Seven’s chaotic, unfiltered devotion, Elijah’s buried strength clawing its way back through grief and guilt, and Atticus’s stormy dominance created an emotional tug-of-war that kept the tension simmering throughout. Watching both Aurora and the men evolve—sometimes fighting growth, sometimes surrendering to it—made their bond feel raw, hard-won, and impossible to look away from.

And just wait until you meet Daddicus. I FLOVED Daddicus. But let’s be real: every scene between Aurora and her men felt like the authors saying, “Oh, you thought that last scene was hot? Hold my beer, beeotches, because we’re just getting started.” I legit ate it up.

They had me in a full-on chokehold for so many reasons. Not only was the tension and the secrets captivating, but Elena and Blake kept the pacing tight, balancing high-stakes action, slow-burn revenge, and magnetic, scorching-hot relationship drama without ever losing momentum. Every revelation peeled back another layer of danger, trust, and betrayal, pulling me deeper with each chapter.

And that cliffhanger? Brutal. Holy sh*t, it was brutal—I'm 100% sure I'm going to die waiting for the next book, and honestly, I would change nothing. (Well, maybe one thing: Atticus did the unthinkable, and someone definitely needs to punch him in the junk. Groveling is not going to suffice at this point. I’m going to need more because I think I actually despise him. 😂)

But the way Eli and Seven showed up for Aurora? Stunning. Morally gray they might be, but in that moment, they shined like the brightest damn stars. I was already feral for Seven the minute he picked up the bat (😉IYKYK) or the way he broke the fridge…🤔 but now? Gimme more. Of all of it. Please. I’m rabid to see where Elena and Blake take this chaotic, combustible found family next.

Content warnings apply, but if you’ve read this far, you already know that's just like waving a red flag at a bull. If you love dark, character-driven romance with bite, White Rose Painted Red is absolutely worth the plunge.

I received an ARC of this book and I want to thank Elena and Blake Lawson for the opportunity. All opinions are my own.

Aurora, Seven, Elijah, and Atticus have all been dealt absolutely shit hands in life. But, when a rainy escape leads to hitting someone on a mountain road or the her car, Aurora is launched into the lives of these three men.
I was hooked as soon as I started this book and I couldn’t put it down, not only did I love Aurora and the bad ass she is, but I love Seven and his protectiveness and Elijah learning how to live again. I also loved Atticus and his protectiveness of his brothers even if he made me so angry too.
Plus, there’s an incredible dog that lives and is loved by everyone!
If you’re into abusive exes getting what is coming to them, a woman finding her place where she can be herself (even the dark pieces of herself), and men who would do anything for the FMC this book is for you!
The cliffhanger definitely left me hanging, wanting more of the story ASAP.

This spicy why choose dark romance was different than others I've read. Yes, we had sexy morally grey men, but the FMC was hiding things too. The book started right in the middle of the action and never stopped. This book was so good and I highly recommend it!

***5 ‘Team Ellie’ Stars ***

I’m not typically drawn to the RH/Why Choose tropes, at least recently and I’m always a bit hesitant when it comes to picking up new to me authors but when I saw  ‘Psycho Golden Retriever’ I had to go for it and I’m happy I did because I got totally hooked on the characters, their stories and where things would take them all.

Now, I’m gonna be real vague but I loved Aurora, Seven, Eli and Atticus. They are all so different but they work. There is a…symbiosis between all of them that makes them stronger, more open to be vulnerable and ups the ante on the chemistry between them all to another level and I’m totally on board to see what is coming next for them all…

Ok, so there is a cliffy, not a craycray WTF kind of cliffy, but, IMHO, more of a this is a good place to put things on pause one. But lots happens in this baby, secrets revealed, shifts made on all fronts and yeah, there are some dark and crazy things that happen, but as OTT as some of the situations were, they worked for me. I was, and am, all in with this crew and I cannot wait to see what will happen next!

This book is so freaking good! No it is freaking outstanding!
I loved the characters, Aurora, Seven, Elijah, Atticus and I can’t forget Ellie.
Each one has their own sad and tragic past. Each own is strength personified.
Just as the characters are unique and complex. So is the plot and story.
It’s gripping and compelling and I was consumed with it.
I loved the bond that the men had with each other. A bond not of familial blood but of their choosing.
Brothers not through parents. But by their choice. I loved their loyalty and commitment to each other.
It was heartwarming to see. Because of the pain and anguish they went through.
Beauty came out of the ugly.
To complete the picture comes Aurora and Ellie.
Aurora once she finds herself again is a freaking force of nature!
Her will and determination is something of awe. She is fierce and courageous.
But I also appreciated her big heart and how she felt the pain of Sev, Eli and Atticus.
After what happens between her and Atticus and that cliffhanger I’m just speechless.
I have to add after reading the book I think the title is pure perfection.

Aurora is finally on the run from her abusive boyfriend, and ready to start anew. Right up until the point she mows down a man standing in the middle of the road while driving through a rainstorm. To her surprise, him and his two friends invite her to stay with them as their live-in maid they so desperately need. Can she risk staying with strangers? Can she risk trying to survive on her own?

*****

Holy fuuuuuuuuuck this was a great read! The action was great, the unhinged leads were interesting and unique, and Aurora was a fantastic FMC who's been beaten down and used and not willing to put up with it again. Add in her cute dog and I was sold.

I loved how she engaged with Seven right out of the gates, and slowly got to bring a little bit of trust into the home. From there getting to know Eli's back story and how he survived, absolutely tied them all together as a cohesive unit. And Atticus? He's got a thing or two coming.

I genuinely enjoyed how the authors peppered in open threads for the plot to continue in future books, but didn't leave it so vast that the book felt empty or lacking. We have so much information already, and clues as to where we can find more and what they'll do with it. I am absolutely frothing for book 2. Also that ending? Oof, immediately hooked me!

If you like unhinged leads with a bit of trauma, who are obsessed and willing to do anything for those they consider family - this one's for you!
