I got no words.
I was so utterly excited for the release of this, everyone kept hyping it up. I almost did not want to start it ( you know that feeling when you are so excited for a book you’re scared to read it because it will inevitably end?).
It’s my second book by Moshfegh, and I am even more disappointed than when I finished “Death in her hands”.
It felt pretentious. It felt like it was not going anywhere. It felt like it did not deliver what was promised. As an avid horror fun, I do not understand where people get the “shocking” and “horrid” and “hair standing up events” in this book. I understand the perspective of innocence and all that in Lapvona, but honestly, this is such a good setting, characters and ideas just wasted.
