Undoubtedly brilliant writing but the form of weaving one story into into another into another probably just wasn't for me - was very well read on audiobook but I needed to be paying a lot of attention because of this and so may have missed finer details.

DNF
I stopped listening to this during "Words and Music". The whole thing up til that point was a pointless, pompous, directionless mess. I loved White Teeth and NW, I enjoyed Swing Time, hated the Autograph man... Zadie Smith's writing seems wildly variable. Why does she intentionally confuse the reader- is it to make herself feel intelligent?
I own The Fraud and I'll give it a try but I'm not hopeful about how much I'll enjoy it considering how many of her books have been misses for me.

2.5, don't think I'm a big short story person. Felt difficult to follow at times
