This memoir is beautiful and heartbreaking all at once. I think Matthew did an amazing job of showing the reality of addiction and what it is like in different forms. He did not shy away or sugar coat the ugly, difficult parts of it. For that, I think he deserves all the credit. Though is seemed a bit haphazard at times, I think it was an important part of it. Knowing he is now gone, makes it even more heartbreaking because you can tell he was really trying to do better. But addiction is a hard thing. He said it himself, addicts are not bad people.

PS. I did not watch Friends

Oh my God. This isn't a book to read fast. But it is a book you need to read if you loved Chandler Bing. Matthew Perry had it all, almost lost it all. Until eventually it almost took him away. He should be proud of where he came.
This is an emotional roller-coaster and is not a book to take lightly. It's heavy but so worth the slow read.

I found the book really insightful into Marty’s life and the hold that addition had on his life.

Brilliantly written and narrated. Perry does a great job of explaining what it’s like to suffer from addiction. Despite some of the very dark topics he’s been through, he keeps it just light enough to keep you reading whilst understanding the weight of it all. Now knowing everything he’s been through, it’s even more heartbreaking knowing he passed so young. RIP Matthew Perry

Absolutely devastating. With a lot of humor, but made me miserable. It was really hard reading this knowing he’s gone. In the first line of the book, he says he should be dead and to read this as if it’s from the beyond… which it was as I listened. I cannot fathom the pain he went through and hope he’s finally at peace.

Matthew Perry is raw, uncut and completely honest in his autobiography.  Big giant trigger warning, read with care. I cried several times throughout, but as a person with a family full of addiction and as a huge fan of Matthew it only seemed right to read it.

Prepare yourself for a journey, not an easy one. But one that leads to sobriety, faith, and redemption.

RIP Mattman

Wonderfully told by the man himself, with that classic Matthew Perry humour, while letting us in with such honesty and vulnerability. He made no excuses for his past, while also opening his heart to the daily battle with addiction and war against himself he was facing. It felt like a deep conversation with a good friend who I felt like I could have sat and conversed with for hours...which in some way I guess I did, however 1-sided it was. Witty until the end who deserves to be ranked among the best of the funniest of entertainers we've been lucky to have. I just hope he has now found the joy he so long searched for, yet gave so freely to millions. Rest In Peace Matthew Perry.
