The most I can say about this book is that it was okay. I would have put it in my DNF pile, but I was hoping the end would wrap it up so fantastically that the rest of the book would come together. Since I didn't rate this a 4 or a 5, you can probably guess that this wasn't what happened...

All-in-all, I left the book feeling annoyed and unsatisfied. Not least because the main character drove me absolutely up the wall.

I really enjoyed this plotline and read the book in just a couple of days. Heather, the main character, was not a super likable character for me, but the plot and mystery elements were more important and well done. The author did a great job flipping between the present and past to paint the picture of the story. I was actually pretty scared at a few parts and had to stop reading before bed!

My one issue with this book was the SUPER overdone descriptions of Heather's anxiety response of ripping up her cuticles. I truly almost quit the book because the author writes about this way too many times in too much detail and its not necessary or honestly very important at all.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for a review.

I know there are mixed reviews on this one but I really liked it. It drew me in maybe it was seeing some of my childhood in them. Hanging out at the bookstore and such. It kept me engaged right up to the end. I’d love to check out more from this author.

The Dead Girls Club was gift from a friend and I’m glad he introduced me to a new author! The book revolves around Heather, a child psychologist with a secret in her past. She used to be a member of The Dead Girls Club with her three friends; they would discuss serial killers and spooky stories. When Becca, Heather’s best friend, tells them the story of the Red Lady, they’re all afraid. Becca becomes obsessed and The Red Lady becomes more than a story, something that none of them can escape. This obsession costs Becca her life and forces Heather to keep a terrible secret. Now the Red Lady returns to haunt Heather as an adult when she begins to receive childhood items relating to Becca in the mail and swears that someone is watching her. Someone knows what Heather did.

This books brought back memories of sleepovers with friends, playing Light As A Feather, Stiff As A Board and timidly trying to summon Bloody Mary in bathroom mirrors. It takes those memories and chills them with a back of forth of them/now chapters that slowly unfold what happened and how Heather unravels in present day. Walters has a talent for macabre. An enjoyable read that makes me interested in more of her work.
