I have watched Dexter, and read gorey books...but this one was pretty disturbing! I had to take time outs. I love Blake though and can't wait to read the next

It wasn’t good. The premise was so promising and I was excited to get stuck in. Then it dragged. I would usually finish something this short in a couple days with free time. This took me 9 days..
The Walter storyline was too unbelievable, and ended in a very far fetched manner. What was the point of the books that Orson forced Andy to read? No point? Just to fill some pages?
No one would act like anyone did in this book, it was complete fiction and each page reminded you of that.
The graphic child SA scene was so unnecessary and was described in language that both characters or their 12 year old selves would not use. Purely for shock and gore value.
Orson was gone so abruptly after being so cunning and smart and meticulous. Okay then..
2 stars instead of 1 purely for the plot that had promise but fizzled and died.

I’m not a huge mystery/thriller fan but this was a pretty good book. I didn’t exactly find it terrifying. When I first saw this book at the used bookstore I expected it to be more horror than thriller so I was slightly disappointed with that. I’m used to reading his newer books which are more science fiction types and I really enjoy those. This is pretty good though for a mystery/thriller

TW graphic description of child sexual abuse
2.5 stars
I was really liking this book until the child abuse that I didn't think needed to be in the story at all, really

The only reason I rated this so low is because the violence was really, really hard to digest. It was brilliant, really.
