Quite disappointing. The main plot point is disturbing. Overall, the writing is very gory and rude. The characters aren’t engaging. I heard that there would be a gender-fluid main character, but there was very little context and attention given to gender fluidity (in the German audiobook version). It was described in a very rushed, simplistic and abrupt way. It might be different in the English original, but in the German audiobook, it came across that way. It’s a shame that that happened. The audiobook might be an abridged version and some important scenes and conversations might have been edited out. It felt like Alex Fierro was barely speaking or acting at all!
Magnus is the only protagonist / main character and he has nothing in common with Annabeth. The last name “Chase” just feels shoehorned in.
Overall, I felt disappointed. “Magnus Chase” was nowhere near the level of “Heroes of Olympus”, for example.

Another fun installment in the Magnus Chase series, this one following Magnus and his friends, both old and new, as they search for Thor's hammer in an effort to stop Ragnarok.
Magnus and his friends are just as charming as ever, with their humor, courage, heart, and enthusiasm. I enjoyed their growth, the way they learned from their mistakes, and the general fun they all had together. They're great heroes that anyone can look up to, regardless of age.
The story continues its quick, creative pace, while also sticking close to legends from Norse mythology. I enjoyed the twists in the plot, as well as banter that had me laughing out loud. I completely understand why so many readers love Riordan's books: They are endlessly entertaining!
