This isn't the book for me (right now?) so I'm going to soft DNF it. The writing is too much for third person to carry and the plot is too chaotic and slow (at the same time?) to draw me in sufficiently.

This had me hooked from the beginning with its evocative prose and Kristin Atherton's exquisite narration. Mostly historical but with a touch of fantasy, this is a unique take on the myth of the wild hunt. There's a lot of politics as the Britons and the Saxons clash as well as pagan and Christian religions. There's also a dash of sapphic romance and an ace main character, which is cool to see. Will have to read more Lucy Holland!

This book was pretty good! It was inspired by British mythology and the story of "the Hunt", but with very strong female characters and leads. I will admit I found myself googling a lot of the terms while reading this, which is why I gave it four stars. If you don't have a strong knowledge of British mythology or medieval terms you may struggle. I really loved Athelburg's character and development during this book. I will probably purchase a physical copy of this book for myself, as I received this for free as an ARC from Netgalley.

Anything to do with the Fey and Gwyn ap Nudd will forever earn my interest. This book was an entertaining read and one that was written in a way that made me want to never put the book down.
