I didn’t realize how much I missed Lara and Aren’a point of view until reading this little novella! It has been so long since I read the bridge kingdom series, but this was the perfect transition from inadequate heir to the upcoming release of the endless war! I love their relationship, there is so much chemistry between these two characters it feels natural right from the page. I love how much Lara tries to prove herself and right her wrongs and Aren vouches for her the whole way through. The 4 stars comes from me thinking the last chapter and her final show of character and redemption feeling a little rushed. I know it’s a novella though so it is not supposed to be a huge plot arc that spans multiple chapters.

It was nice to an update/refresher on Lara and Aren before the next book. This one also packed more spice in its 80 pages versus the previous books.
