Hmmmm. So I really liked Kyle and Nic. Kyle in particular with his skirts and green hair. Fly your freak flag high and be yourself!! Also really enjoyed Nic and his quiet and tentative approach to his new life. Liked how we weren't hit over the head about Nic's transition. Subtle hints nestled among the words told his story. My issue was.... I just didn't like them together. I know, that's terrible but I didn't feel the chemistry. That dance at the club sort of made me cringe. I know I am in the minority on this but, as a reader, if I don't gel with my MCs, then I don't enjoy the book. Also moved a little fast - "I want him." "I need him" Wait, what??!! A cute read with lovely secondary characters - Evie, Kevin, River, etc. I've read 1 or 2 of this author's books. Quite the prolific writer but I find his writing just a little clunky though.

Except for the series reference, this could've been titled 'don't self-reject!

If you are looking for a sweet gay romance with a trans character, you just found it. Nic has already transitioned, already made a life for himself, when he meets flamboyant Kyle. Background's filled in for each character in context while they try to figure out how to be ...good for each other. There are complications, but the only violence shown is in character & protective. All told, I forgive the bits of telling when I was just shown feelings (sigh) because the story left me smiling.

I can't decide between 3 or 4 stars. It shouldn't be judged by very old reviews where I gave more stars more easily.
I liked the book, I had some issues with it... full review to come later.
